(WICHITA, Kan.) — Christie Spillane has to be one of the most patient people in Newton. Not only did she welcome the "Does It Work Crew" to her "We B Tots" daycare twice for testing, she let us give a four and five-year-olds a potentially messy product.
The first time at Christie's, we tested "Crayola's Washable Colored Bubbles" with the help of Brylie and Hunter. Everything was going well, until we noticed the colored solution was everywhere… hair, hands, faces, legs, photographer Jason's arm, and of course, the clothes.
The next part of the test was to see whether the colored bubble solution actually washed off. With soap and water, the kids cleaned-up just fine.
Now to the washer with the clothes. It washed out.
"Holy cow! It did!” Christie said.
However, there was one spot on Brylie's shorts.
"It didn't come out right here,” Christie said.
But this is all a wash. After our test, we realized Crayola changed the name from "Washable Colored Bubbles" to "Outdoor Colored Bubbles." The company sent us this statement: “Crayola changed the formula in its ‘Washable Colored Bubbles’ when it changed the name to ‘Outdoor Colored Bubbles.’ Crayola kept all the fun and magic in its next generation of colorful bubbles and designed the product to clean up better."
