(WICHITA, Kan.) — The  BlackTop Nationals is still going on Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine.  The Saturday Motorcycle Show is being moved inside Expo Hall.  All participants are to go to the the west side dock and come up the ramp.

The show is expected to showcase up to 1000 cars, from antiques to the newest muscle cars on the road.

Rick Nuckolls, the president of BlackTop National, says the goal was to customize a national car show for Wichita.

“It started as a dream with a friend of mine....I had an old Corvette and we went to Chicago, St. Louis and Denver to have it judged,” said Knuckolls. “Every time we left one of those big cities we said, ‘wouldn’t it be great to start a big car show here in Wichita?’”

People came from 26 states last year to see what the car show offered.

Knuckolls says many people come out to see the antique cars. He said the 60’s and 70’s were the “big years for the muscle cars” but says that car companies are re-launching classic cars.

“They’re doing a resurgence recently, the last few years, of beautiful cars,” said Knuckolls. “(Ford) is bringing back the Mustang Boss 302 which was in 1969 and 1970. Now the younger generation…gets to experience the same thing that we got to experience.”

The Blacktop Nationals show starts Friday at noon and runs through Sunday.
