Woman hurt in shooting that killed girl speaks

(WICHITA, Kan.) — “It could have taken my life. I'm just lucky to be here,” said shooting victim Kimberly McDonough.

Stray bullets fly through a Wichita mobile home park early Tuesday morning. One woman was grazed by a bullet and survived, but another bullet went through a wall killing an 8-year-old girl. Kimbra Moore was sleeping in her home early Tuesday morning near 31st Street and South Broadway when police say an argument led to the gunfire.

“It was around 2 or 3 in the morning. My husband and I were watching a movie called Tremors and I felt something. I felt blood coming down and I said "Oh my God I got shot!”' said McDonough.

McDonough says she is in shock and too scared to go home.

“I wish that someone could tell me that this is a nightmare, but it's not,” said McDonough.

She was at home with her husband and daughter when a bullet fired through the wall of her home, grazing the top of her head.

“It could have taken my life. I'm just lucky to be here,” said McDonough.

Police say another stray bullet hit Kimbra in the head killing her. Police say she was sleeping in a mobile home with her 4-year-old sister and 6-year-old brother at the time. The other two children weren’t hurt. Eyewitnesses saw the mother of those children shortly after it happened.

"She was you know holding on to it. And it devastated her because her baby had gun to her head, blood everywhere. And I would be to… seeing my baby like that," said eyewitness Christina Greenhaw.

Kimbra was attending her first year at Enterprise Elementary. Now McDonough wants justice.

“I'm wondering what kind of a person can do this to innocent people and even kill a little girl. I have kids I can only imagine what the other parent is going through,” said McDonough.

Police found four suspects in this apartment and took them in for questioning. They still have not found the driver of the vehicle.

Police are also looking for a vehicle involved with this shooting. It is a black Ford Focus, with license plate number 511 EVP. If you see the car or have any information on the shooting, call 9-1-1 or crimestoppers at 267-2111.
