(WICHITA, Kan.) — Cheris Moore wept as she thought about her "best friend" and 8-year-old daughter, Kimbra, being taken from her by a senseless act of violence.
The little girl was shot in the head and killed instantly when a stray bullet ripped through her bedroom wall early Tuesday morning at The Oaks on South Broadway.
"They took her from me and it's not fair," said Moore, clutching a picture of Kimbra with a wide, toothy smile.
Moore said her other children, ages 6 and 4, don't quite understand what's happened. Her son, William, wonders who will protect him now when he gets picked on at school.
Wichita Police arrested the 24-year-old who allegedly fire the shots. They say he was trying to hit someone driving away in a stolen car.
