(HARPER COUNTY, Kan.) — A driver was critically hurt after being hit by a train in Harper County. The accident happened just before ten o'clock Thursday night near Northwest 80th Road and 50th Avenue.The Kansas Highway Patrol says the driver was attempting to go around the crossing arms that were down and flashing. That's when the train hit the car causing it to spin out of control. The 39-year-old driver was thrown from his car and taken to a local hospital before he was later transported to one in Wichita in critical condition. The train engineer was not hurt.
