(EMPORIA, Kan.) — Police and other officials are trying to get ahold of a student who didn't return from fall break.
Twenty-year-old Emilee Irsik's roommates reported that she didn't return after fall break as planned.
It was only after police began to investigate that anyone learned she'd traveled to Hamburg, Germany. Not even her boyfriend knew.
"I had no idea she was going to Germany," said her father, Jay Irsik. "She's a German major at Emporia. She had talked about how, for a semester or a year, she was going to be going over there as part of her studies."
He added, "She had briefly commented once about going over there to check out the different universities, but she never said anything about leaving."
She held return tickets for October 26th. Her father, who now lives in North Carolina, flew back to meet the flight, but she wasn't on it and has not booked another one.
