(DODGE CITY, Kan.) — The Kansas Mission of Mercy dental clinic will come to Dodge City in 2014, but its still looking for donations and volunteers.
The Mission of Mercy will take place at the Expo Center Feb. 28 through March 1. The two day clinic provides free dental care to about 2,000 patients. People are served on a first-come, first-serve basis. Patients do not need to register in advance.
The events started ten years ago, and have served about 23,000 patients with $12 million in dental care. Some 7,000 volunteers have helped to provide the care that organizers say patients could not otherwise afford.
Services performed at the two-day clinic include cleanings, fillings, extractions and extractions for both children and adults. Organizers expect 150 dentists, 150 hygienists and 175 dental assistants to assist with the Dodge City clinic, along with hundreds of other volunteers.
A planning committee is working to raise $120,000 and recruiting volunteers for the 2014 clinic in Dodge City. For information call the volunteer center at (620)227-7077 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
