The 2013 Ray Miron Presidents' Cup could fall into the hands of the Allen Americans tonight. Allen is coming off a dominant 5-1 win in Game 5 and could earn its first CHL title with a win in Wichita tonight. Wichita is coming off back-to-back losses and in both games they had the lead after one period with 1-0 leads. This match up is the Thunder's first elimination game of the post-season. Tonight marks the 10th Game 6 in CHL Finals history and in those games, the home team is 7-2.  Four times the team up 3-2 won the game thus winning the Cup. Wichita's Chad Painchaud has a goal and two assists during his current three-game point streak and has four goals and seven assists in the post-season.

In one of the most exciting CHL Finals in recent history, Wichita (11-4) fell at the hands of the Allen Americans (12-7) in Game 7 by the final of 3-2 in overtime. Todd Robinson's goal just under three minutes into the extra session ended the game, giving the Americans their first CHL Title. RG Flath recorded a pair of goals in the loss for the Thunder. Allen takes the series four games to three and improves to 4-0 in Game 7's. The game began with a fever pitch as the two teams battled hard through the first five minutes.

With their backs against the wall, Wichita (11-3) responded with a Game 6 victory at INTRUST Bank Arena Saturday night, defeating the Allen Americans (11-7) by the final of 3-2 and forcing a decisive Game 7 tomorrow night in Allen. Three different Thunder players found the back of the net in the first period and Torrie Jung won his 11th game of the post-season. Wichita will play in just its fourth Game 7 all-time and its first since the 2004-05 Northern Conference Semifinals against Bossier-Shreveport.

The Wichita Thunder beat the Allen Americans 4-1 on Tuesday night, taking a 1-0 series advantage in the CHL Finals.  Todd Griffith, active for just his third playoff game for Wichita, scored the first two goals of the game as Wichita went up 2-0 after two periods. Allen scored in the third to cut the Thunder lead to 1, but just a few seconds later R.G. Flath connected on a slap-shot to the top shelf to give Wichita a 3-1 advantage.  Chad Painchaud went top shelf himself a few minutes later to give Wichita the commanding 4-1 advantage.

The Wichita Thunder announced this afternoon that tonight's game against the Allen Americans has been POSTPONED. Due to weather conditions in the Dallas area, the Americans were unable to make the trip to Wichita. All tickets purchased for tonight's game may be exchanged for any future Thunder game for the remainder of the regular season. Ticket exchanges must be made at the Wichita Thunder office. The game will be rescheduled to a later date. The Wichita Thunder will be back on the ice Friday to take on the Missouri Mavericks, they'll then host Quad City on Saturday.

The Wichita Thunder will play the Allen Americans in the 2013 CHL President's Cup finals.  Wichita is looking for its first CHL championship since the mid-90's. Wichita has a 4-4-1 record against the Americans in 2012-13 with a 3-1-0 record at home.  It's the first ever meeting between the Americans and the Thunder in the post-season and it's Wichita's 5th appearance in the finals. Wichita last won a CHL title in 1995.  It was their second straight CHL title after also winning the cup in 1994.  The Thunder swept Arizona and Fort Worth in the team's first two playoff series this season.  Wichita played its last game on April 20th and won't play game one of the CHL Finals until April 30th.

Brian McMillin broke a tie game three minutes into the third period to help pull the Allen Americans (10-6) even in the CHL Finals, winning Game 4 on Sunday afternoon over Wichita (10-2) by the final of 2-1 at INTRUST Bank Arena. Matt Summers scored the lone Thunder goal, his first since Game 2 of the Fort Worth series. The Finals will shift to Allen on Tuesday night tied at two games apiece.  There was a feeling out process at the start of Game 4 as both teams were a little bit more defensive-minded.

Greger Hanson and RG Flath paced Wichita (10-1), recording points on the first three Thunder goals en route to a 5-2 victory in Game 3 of the CHL Finals on Saturday night over the Allen Americans (9-6) at INTRUST Bank Arena. Hanson and Flath had three points each while Torrie Jung earned his 10th win of the post-season. Wichita takes a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 tomorrow afternoon in Wichita. For the second time in the series, Wichita jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the opening period.

The Wichita Thunder announced several roster moves on Friday, led by the acquisition of left wing Dustin Donaghy from the Allen Americans in exchange for future considerations. The Thunder also placed left wing Troy Schwab on the 10-Day IR, while activating forward Ryan Hand. Donaghy skated in 23 games this season for Allen, scoring six goals, one assist, and adding 43 PIM. Just 21 years old, Donaghy made his professional debut during the Americans' Southern Conference championship run last spring, appearing in two playoff games.

The Wichita Thunder lost 4-1 to the Allen Americans at the Allen Event Center on Saturday night. Allen cracked a scoreless tie at 18:23 in the first on the power play.  Colton Yellow Horn carried the puck in front of the crease and made a backdoor pass that deflected off of Nino Musitelli's skate and into the net.  After the officials reviewed the call, the goal was allowed to stand. After Brian McMillan's goal at 4:35 in the second gave Allen a 2-0 lead, Bobby Hughes responded 32 seconds later to bring the Thunder back within one.  Hughes led a two-on-one rush into the slot and scored on a snapshot past the right of Americans' goaltender Chris Whitley.

Wichita (9-1) dropped its first game of the post-season on Thursday night, losing Game 2 of the CHL Finals 5-2 at the hands of the Allen Americans (9-5) at the Allen Event Center. The series is even at one as the two teams will head to Wichita for the next two. RG Flath and Nathan Lutz scored for the Thunder while Torrie Jung suffered his first loss of the post-season. The two teams combined for 164 minutes in penalties and 52 infractions. Game 3 will take place on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. at INTRUST Bank Arena.  The intensity didn't let up at the start of the first period as both teams came out at a frantic pace.

Matt Robinson scored with just over a minute remaining in the third period to help the Thunder (37-18-8) secure a 4-3 win over the Allen Americans (37-17-9) on Tuesday night at the Allen Event Center. Wichita moves into second place ahead of Fort Worth and just one point back of Allen for first. Wichita leads the season-series 4-3-1 against the Americans with one more meeting coming between the two teams on Friday night.   Wichita has struggled early at the Allen Event Center. That was not the case in the opening 20 minutes on Tuesday as the the Thunder took a 2-0 lead.
