Many times in the Bill Self era, Kansas men’s basketball has ranked among the national leaders in strength of schedule and even with the Big 12 stiffening its schedule, KU did not let up with its 2011-12 non-conference slate. Ten of Kansas’ 13 non-conference opponents advanced to the 2011 postseason. The Jayhawks could face as many as three defending league regular-season champions and three teams that won their conference tourney titles in 2011. KU will have home-and-home meetings against all nine Big 12 foes in the league’s first-complete round-robin 18-game format since the inception of the conference in 1996-97.

Kansas Jayhawks' junior guard Tyshawn Taylor and sophomore forward Thomas Robinson made KU fans very happy Wednesday by announcing they will stay in Lawrence for another season with the Jayhawks. Taylor says, “We had a great year, but since the season ended disappointingly, there has been a lot speculation with fans and on the internet on what we were going to do. After years of offers, KU Basketball may finally play a game in Wichita. But that doesn't have Shocker fans expecting a showdown. The Jayhawks could play a game at INTRUST bank arena in December, against The University of Southern California Trojans. The teams first met in 2010, and KU beat USC 70-68 in Allen Fieldhouse. It is USC's turn to host, but it's venue holds almost 5,000 fewer people than the 15,000 seat Intrust Bank Arena. Shocker fans said they would rather see the hometown team take on KU, instead of a West Coast team. "It's like, they're snubbing us," said WSU fan Martha Cable. "It's like, we don't know you guys are there, so we're bringing in another team.

Markieff Morris had 26 points and 15 rebounds and No. 1 Kansas bounced back from a lopsided loss to Kansas State with an 89-63 victory over Colorado, the Buffaloes' 28th straight defeat in Lawrence. Brady Morningstar hit his first four 3-pointers to help the Jayhawks (25-2, 10-2 Big 12) get off to a flying start after their brand-new No. 1 ranking was tarnished Monday night by a shocking 84-68 loss at the home of the unranked Wildcats. Colorado (16-11, 5-7) will go into the Pac-10 next year with a 5-52 record in Allen Fieldhouse.

It seemed like the gap between the KU and K-State programs had closed after the 2009-10 season and with K-State beginning this season as a pre-season top three team in the country. But following a 90-66 Jayhawk drubbing to K-State, it seems like the gap has grown wider. KU (20-1) was good in the first half, great in the second half and the Wildcats (14-8) were simply bad. Shooting only 33 percent from the floor, a dismal 19 percent in the first half. This game was a cathartic release for Kansas and especially Thomas Robinson who endured a terribly tragic three weeks where he lost both his grandparents and his mother, Lisa, and attended her funeral on Thursday.
