Butler county deputies arrest a burglary suspect after tracking him down in Andover. Lehman was caught Thursday afternoon after the owner of The Barn Guys found him hiding out in his shop. The suspect ran but police were able to make an arrest. Billy Page says he couldn't believe his eyes when he came to work at The Barn Guys Thursday morning. "I got close enough to see in the window, I seen the suspect dart out of the offices and run through the center part of the shop and out back," says Page.

One of the victims in the Colorado theater shooting has ties to Andover. 26-year-old Jonathan Blunk is being called a hero after blocking his girlfriend when a gunman opened fire during the showing of 'The Dark Knight Rises' early Friday morning. Blunk's mother, Dawna Nygaard, stepfather Lee and two brothers live in Andover. They went to Aurora Colorado over the weekend to attend the candle-light-vigil and visit site of the shooting. They are now preparing to move Blunk to Reno Nevada for his funeral. A family friend tells Eyewitness News, Blunk was separated from his wife who lived in Reno with their two children.

Services for John "Skip" Gallagher, who recently died in a skydiving accident on September 13, will be held tonight and tomorrow at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Andover. The rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday and the funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday September 17th.

The dream of a new children's home in the Andover area has taken a step towards reality. A group called SCARF kicked off its capital campaign Friday. SCARF stands for Sunlight Children's Advocacy and Rights Foundation. It plans to build the home in Andover to serve Butler, Greenwood and Elk counties. "The children's home is going to be a country style warm and friendly environment for children that have been temporarily removed from their home. We will have room for up to 15 children at one time," said board member Susan Koslowsky.

Area law enforcement officers issued 349 citations during Thursday’s 24-hour traffic safety exercise along the 21st Street corridor from Andover through Wichita to western Sedgwick County. Most of the tickets, 203 in all, were for speeding. There was one arrest for DUI. The An dover Police Department, the Wichita Police Department, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A house catches fire in east Andover this morning, leaving little of the house behind. That happened this morning, just before 7:00 a.m. at Lincoln and Kingsway. That's near the Augusta Municipal Airport. When crews arrived the house was engulfed in flames. A spokesperson says the fire stretched from one end of the house to the other. No one lives in the house, but it was being remodeled. The house is s total loss, no one was hurt.

Wichita Public School has cancelled and activities for Tuesday, February 1. All schools and non-attendance centers are closed. Officials cite the anticipated dangerous weather conditions as a reason. Decisions on the status of classes for Wednesday will be made later. Other districts including Derby, Haysville, Salina, Andover and Winfield are also closed. You hear people say it after a tornado. Mary Jacob said it after Sunday night's storm. "It sounded like a train," said Jacob. She and her family ran to the basement Sunday night when the windows in their Andover home started shaking. But Jacob says as soon as it hit, it was over.
