The power is back on at the pump station in Northeast Wichita - and city officials say residents can resume normal watering activities. The city says actions taken by customers to lessen the demand on the pump station were critical to working through the power outage. There are no voluntary water restrictions in place, but residents are still encouraged to conserve water where they can. The current hot, dry weather continues to contribute to high water demand and the city says efforts to curb usage can help improve the system.

Concrete barriers, dangerous U-turns and unmarked back road entrances. A church in Andover has been dealing with problems for months, since the city added a raised median along the 21st street corridor. The city says it's planning for the future. But in the present, members of Peace Lutheran Church are frustrated by the lack of access. Last year, construction began on a raised concrete median along 21st between Andover Road and 159th St. E.  The long term goal is to handle increased traffic from expected commercial development.  The median may look nice, but for drivers along the busy road it's created more than a few headaches.

The Andover City Council agrees to look at changing a median, just built, on 21st Street. The median limits left-hand turns into, and out of, the Quail Crossing Subdivision. "There are 162 homes here and they rely on this as the main entrance for the entire development," explains Jeanie Shackelford, who lives in the subdivision. Shackelford and others say they had no notice the median was going to be built. They add that having to travel on side streets in order to turn left onto 21st doesn't make sense.
