Wednesday will bring another day of summer sizzle as our unusual late April heat wave continues. We will likely see more record highs with temperatures running 20-25 degree above what's typical for the end of the month. Look for a mix of sun and clouds Wednesday with with late June-like afternoon highs soaring into the mid 90s. Our hot streak will ease a bit Thursday followed by storm chances during the evening and into Friday as a cold front pushes through the central Plains and eventually stalls across parts of Kansas.

It looks like a cloudy, cool and damp day across most of central and eastern Kansas with off and on rain showers and a few rumbles of thunder today.  There may be a few breaks in the clouds at times but highs will only  reach the 50s and 60s statewide. Mostly cloudy skies in the east with any showers diminishing after sunset, while western Kansas can expect another round of showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder, mainly after midnight.  Expect lows in the 40s to lower 50s. It appears to be a soggy Mother's Day for western Kansas, however central and eastern Kansas will start out cloudy with a few peeks of sun as we work into the afternoon.  Highs will reach the 60s to low 70s.  A warming trend will kick in next week.
