Another quiet night is ahead for Kansas, thanks to clear or mostly clear skies. Look for lows in the 30s and 40s. A big travel day is ahead on Wednesday. The good news is that we'll have plenty of sunshine, along with a few high clouds. High temperatures will be near-record territory as readings climb into the 70s! However, with that warmth will come gusty southerly winds over 30 mph in places. As such, you'll want to keep both hands on the steering wheel, especially on east-west highways. The weather forecast on Thanksgiving Day looks decent overall but it will trend breezy and cooler as cold front and a weather system moves through the state. A chance of showers will develop for parts of south central and southeast Kansas ahead of this feature Thursday afternoon.

The weather we've had of late will continue this week so no big changes and our Thanksgiving travel conditions are still looking good. Lighter winds and mostly sunny skies will prevail Monday afternoon with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s statewide. Tuesday also looks warm and dry with sunny skies and temps topping out near 70. There will be a few scattered showers and storms in our area Thursday but soaking rains or severe weather are not expected at this time.

Gusty south winds will continue today resulting in a very high grassland fire danger. Winds of 20-30 m.p.h. with higher gusts can be expected in central and eastern Kansas. The good news, those southerly winds will transport some moisture into the state which will team up with a weak weather system working in from Colorado. This may lead to isolated showers and even a clap or two of thunder in central and eastern Kansas by early evening into...

High clouds will invade the state overnight and should be a bit thicker in southwest Kansas. Some patchy fog can't be ruled out either near Goodland. We'll see lows mostly in the 20s and 30s with some lower 40s in southwest Kansas. On Sunday, more clouds will be on the way. We'll have south winds of 20-35 mph and gusty in central and eastern Kansas. Those winds will transport some marginal amounts of moisture to team up with a weak weather maker working in from Colorado. This may lead to some isolated showers and even a clap or two of thunder in Wichita by the end of the afternoon. Highs tomorrow will reach the 60s statewide. Any showers will end Sunday evening.

Our mild November weather will continue this weekend along with gusty southerly winds. The strong winds will push afternoon highs into the the mid to upper 60s across the state under a sunny to mostly sunny sky. Look for increasing clouds late Saturday night and into Sunday. There will be a chance for rain or isolated storms from those clouds across eastern Kansas Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning as a weak weather-maker slides though southern sections of our region.

High clouds will filter out of Kansas later in the evening, leaving the state with clear to mostly clear skies. Expect lows to drop into 20s and 30s once again with relatively light winds. We'll close out the work week with sunshine and a few high clouds. Watch as southerly winds become gusty around Dodge City and Goodland in the afternoon. This should be no surprise but highs will reach the 50s and 60s...just like they have pretty much all week long. More wind and mild temperatures will prevail for the weekend.
