A 24 year-old man is arrested after authorities find 36 pounds of marijuana-laced candy bars in his vehicle.  Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol pulled over the 2001 Mercedes E320 Monday near Kearney, Nebraska for driving on the shoulder.  A drug dog indicated a marijuana odor in the rear of the vehicle.  That's where authorities found 36 pounds of packaged candy bars containing THC - the active ingredient in marijuana.  The driver was...

The Victoria Police Department and the Ellis County Sheriff's Office are asking for the public's help finding a man who went missing earlier this week. Michael Louis Gerhard was last seen just before noon on March 22. Gerhard is 43 years old with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities in Barton County are looking for an 11-year-old child. Ryan Durland was last seen in the Twin Lakes area in Great Bend, Kansas at around 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Authorities describe him as being 4'8" and possibly 90 pounds, with sandy blonde hair, wearing an orange and white shirt, blue jeans and yellow croc shoes.  He is autistic. Search parties are out looking for him now. If you have any information you are asked to call authorities in Barton County.

Three women are wanted in connection to a string of recent burglaries in Sedgwick County. Authorities are wanting to question the women for several crimes that occurred March 19. The sheriff's department is also looking for a 2000 or 2001 silver, Toyota Camry 4-door with rear spoiler. The goal was simple: To get guns out of the hands of convicted felons and prevent them from being used in crimes. The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday that charges had been filed against 67 people following a large multi-agency investigation in Wichita. "Today, Wichita, Kansas is a safer city," declared U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom, flanked by other local and federal law enforcement officers. Wednesday morning, officers hit the streets to begin making arrests in the 11 month long undercover operation.  So far, 55 people have been taken into custody, Grissom said.

More than two dozen cars in Finney County are scratched with graffiti, and deputies want to find the suspects. The Finney County Sheriff's Department says vandals recently marked more than 29 vehicles. It happened in the Towns Riverview Drive area, an area investigators say they've responded to crimes like this before. Investigators from the sheriff's department say the graffiti is gang related. They urge people to be aware of what is happening in their neighborhood. "If they are aware of activity where there is a suspect, they should certainly call law enforcement and let us know, this can be checked out, especially an area of high occurrence rates, as we have in this area," said undersheriff John Andrews.

Update: Authorities in Harvey County have identified the suspects they believe are responsible for several burglaries in the southeastern part of the county. Investigators with the sheriff's office say they plan to release more information soon. ----------------- Original Story, November 29 The Harvey County Sheriff's Department is asking for help after burglars ransack several homes in the middle of the day.  Five burglaries this week and it doesn't surprise Harvey County Undersheriff Todd Hanchett.

A convicted murderer is still on the run.  As of Wednesday morning, Saline County authorities still don't know where Antonio Brown Sr. is located.  They've searched for him since Monday afternoon. Around 4:15 Monday, Brown walked away from the Saline County Jail.  Authorities had just transported him to Saline County to be sentenced for the death of Salina toddler Clayden Urbanek. Eyewitness News asked Sheriff Glen Kochanowski how Brown was able to just walk away.  The sheriff says Brown and two other inmates were in a holding cell.  He says somehow the door to the holding cell was unlocked.  Brown walked out the door and into a sally port, which is a secure entryway.  Click here to see photos inside the Saline Co. jail The sheriff says once in the sally port, Brown walked alongside a car leaving the building.  Once outside, he walked away from the jail.  Ten minutes passed before anyone noticed.  "Something happened to keep that door opened.  We are looking at various different people who were working yesterday to see what happened and why it happened," Sheriff Kochanowski said.

Wichita authorities are considering criminal charges after finding 31 dead catsin a home last weekend. Police say a 69-year-old woman lived at the residence and claimed ownership of the cats. She told police she was staying at a friend's house, but was checking on the animals. Police say she may have violated Kansas cruelty to animals law for abandoning the pets.  "Basically what she told investigators on the site that day is that she had been coming by daily to check on the animals.  She was unaware we had any problem.

Authorities are looking for a man who robbed a bank in Cimarron Monday.  The robbery happened around 11:40 at the Credit Union of Dodge  City on Main Street in Cimarron. Police say the suspect showed a gun inside the bank and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.  No one was injured during the robbery. The suspect is described as a white male, about 5'10" with a medium build.  He was wearing dark colored plastic sunglasses, a fake beard that covered most of his face and a hooded sweatshirt.

Cowley County authorities are looking into whether skeletal remains found earlier this month belong to a former hospital patient.  Tree trimmers found the remains in the 7000 block of 146th Road, northwest of Winfield, March 11. A hospital-issued wristband was located nearby. A man's name, Adam Miller, was printed on the wristband. It was dated Sept. 9. Police said a man in the picture was in the Arkansas City and Winfield area at the time, but he is not believed to be a resident in the area.

Cowley County authorities are searching for suspects accused of robbing a newspaper delivery man, armed. It happened in the 300 block of Williams St. in Rock around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. The 51-year-old man managed to call 911 to report that he had been robbed. The victim said two men with a gun told him to lie on the ground. They then took his wallet and cell phone and drove off in a red sports car. The suspects are believed to be white men in their 20s. The sheriff's office said one suspect is described as being 6' to 6'5" tall, last seen wearing a plaid, flannel jacket or coat and blue jeans.

Two Sedgwick County Deputies were presented with Carnegie Medals for their actions in August of 2011.  Deputy Thomas Delgado and Deputy Joseph Page pulled a 65-year-old Wichita man out of a burning pickup truck on August 31st, 2011. Authorities say the driver suffered a medical condition while driving and motor assist vehicle near 63rd S. and Broadway, then another vehicle...then ran into a bridge and caught fire near MacArthur. Deputies Delgado and Page pulled the man to safety, injuring themselves in the process.

A Hutchinson man has been arrested again just minutes after a Reno County judge dismissed charges. Dwight Jergens returned to court Friday morning in connection to charges of promoting prostitution. Judge Rose dismissed those charges, but Jergens was immediately arrested on a different warrant. His new charges include two counts of aggravated human trafficking, two counts of attempted aggravated human trafficking, one count aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of rape. Authorities said the human trafficking charges are in connection to Jergens' authority to control a person due to his bonding business.

A body has been found in an apartment after a fire damaged the building in December. Police were called to investigate at a complex in the 3100 block of S. George Washington Blvd. Tuesday afternoon. Investigators said a man's body was found inside the burned out unit.  It appears to be a sad ending to the mystery that puzzled residents of the complex for months. Nobody had seen the man who lived in apartment 501 after it caught fire in December.  Christie Gregg says nobody would listen to her. "I was convinced, and I knew with everything in me he was in there," said Gregg.  "I kept telling the maintenance and the other guys out here that they needed to get him out. " Authorities said at the time of the fire they couldn't find anyone inside.

A Garden City man was charged with second degree murder after a deadly stabbing on Saturday. Authorities in Dodge City and Fort County were called to the Western Plains Regional Hospital after two people showed up with stab wounds. One of them, a 22-year-old man from Garden City, was admitted in critical condition and later died. The other man, 52-year-old Alfredo Gasca-Aldama was treated and then charged. Police did not release any information on the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.

Sedgwick County authorities hope you can help them identify a woman whose skull was found in 2011. The skull was found in a creek bed in the 10000 block of S. 343rd Street West. Since then, the skull has been inspected by an anthropology expert and a forensic dentist. They determined the skull was that of an African American woman between 16 and 22 years old and that she died anywhere between one and ten years before the discovery. A month after the skull was found, anthropology students toured the area where the skull was found.

Sumner County authorities say a farmer shot and killed a man in a rural part of the county.  The shooting happened around 5:30 Monday night in the 800 block of east 140th St. South.  That's near the town of South Haven. The Sumner County Sheriff Department says a man didn't pay a toll on the Kansas Turnpike. When state troopers approached the vehicle, the driver got out of it and ran. Officials warned farmers in the area to look out for that man. Later in the evening, a farmer, who was armed with a shotgun, spotted the man on his property.
