Sumner County authorities say a farmer shot and killed a man in a rural part of the county. The shooting happened around 5:30 Monday night in the 800 block of east 140th St. South. That's near the town of South Haven. The Sumner County Sheriff Department says a man didn't pay a toll on the Kansas Turnpike. When state troopers approached the vehicle, the driver got out of it and ran. Officials warned farmers in the area to look out for that man. Later in the evening, a farmer, who was armed with a shotgun, spotted the man on his property.

A wanted Sedgwick County felon has been arrested in Oregon. Authorities arrested Kevin Davis Wednesday during a large drug bust in rural home outside Boring. Investigators found an elaborate video surveillance system protecting an illegal marijuana growing operation. Officers seized 84 marijuana plants, two stolen guns and cash during a search warrant. Street value of the drug was estimated at $250,000. A tip to the Clackamas County task force led to the investigation. The 37-year-old was wanted by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office for aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

A convicted murderer is still on the run. As of Wednesday morning, Saline County authorities still don't know where Antonio Brown Sr. is located. They've searched for him since Monday afternoon. Around 4:15 Monday, Brown walked away from the Saline County Jail. Authorities had just transported him to Saline County to be sentenced for the death of Salina toddler Clayden Urbanek. Eyewitness News asked Sheriff Glen Kochanowski how Brown was able to just walk away. The sheriff says Brown and two other inmates were in a holding cell. He says somehow the door to the holding cell was unlocked. Brown walked out the door and into a sally port, which is a secure entryway. Click here to see photos inside the Saline Co. jail The sheriff says once in the sally port, Brown walked alongside a car leaving the building. Once outside, he walked away from the jail. Ten minutes passed before anyone noticed. "Something happened to keep that door opened. We are looking at various different people who were working yesterday to see what happened and why it happened," Sheriff Kochanowski said.

A man accused of firing shots at Wichita Police officers has been charged with attempted murder. Prosecutors charged Aaron Belcher with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, burglary, possession of stolen property, running from officers and criminal possession of a firearm. The charges stem from an incident January 13 where officers spotted a stolen car near Kinkaid and Broadway. The driver sped off after officers tried to stop the vehicle. The chase reached speeds up to 100 mph in a residential area.

The Kansas Attorney General's office has released the name of the woman killed in Colby over the weekend. She was 27-year old Teri Morris. Her body was found inside a burning home Saturday morning. The AG's office says an individual has been taken into custody for Morris' death. The AG's office says the investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time. Information about the case has been very limited. Eyewitness News has contacted the Colby Police Chief, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Attorney General's office to try and learn more.

Update: Authorities in Cowley County arrest a suspect in Monday mornings shooting in El Dorado. A 23-year-old man was shot in the head inside a home. Cowley County authorities made the arrest after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle Deputies located the vehicle and a chase developed. The suspect then abandoned a car and foot chase started west of Winfield. Several agencies were involved in the search. The Kansas Highway Patrol used its plane to search for him. Both KHP and the Cowley County Sheriff's Department used K-9 units to aid in the search.

Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Barton County. Authorities were called to a rural home north of Hoisington around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Officers found a woman and a man dead inside the home. A juvenile was also found unharmed. The victims are identified as Michelle Heggemeier, 39, and Justin Heggemeier, 35. Investigators said Michelle was shot at close range. Justin died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The sheriff's department said a domestic dispute likely led up to the violence.

Police in Oklahoma found a missing El Dorado man. Authorities say 80-year-old Donald Brickley disappeared Saturday morning. His family said he left his home on Bluestem road in a pick-up truck. Brickley suffers from dementia. He was found in Oklahoma around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

The Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority looks at trends involving minorities in the department's custody. The JJA is holding meetings about part in a statewide assessment. One of those meetings happened Wednesday in Garden City. Officials are trying to find what minority youths are being over-represented in the juvenile justice system. Kansas identified law enforcement, detention and case management placements as the three priorities to be examined in the evaluation. "As a system and as a community we want to make sure that our response to juvenile delinquency is based on the offense and it's based on the needs of the juvenile and not based on the color of their skin," said Elizabeth Neeley, a sociologist involved in the process.

Update: Authorities in Harvey County have identified the suspects they believe are responsible for several burglaries in the southeastern part of the county. Investigators with the sheriff's office say they plan to release more information soon. ----------------- Original Story, November 29 The Harvey County Sheriff's Department is asking for help after burglars ransack several homes in the middle of the day. Five burglaries this week and it doesn't surprise Harvey County Undersheriff Todd Hanchett.
