Junction City Police arrest a man in connection with a deadly shooting at a National Guard armory Saturday. It was rented out for a private party when the shooting occurred. One person was killed and another injured during the incident. Authorities say a 25-year old man was shot and killed, and a 30 year-old woman was flown to a hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds. Police are still investigating.

A 24-year-old Dodge City man is now charged with murder in the death of his son. Jonathan M. Villa-Ramirez is suspected of abusing his 9-month-old son, Brandon Villa. He was admitted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita on July 22 in critical condition, but later died of his injuries. The Wichita Exploited and Missing Child Unit is helping Dodge City authorities in the investigation.

More than two dozen cars in Finney County are scratched with graffiti, and deputies want to find the suspects. The Finney County Sheriff's Department says vandals recently marked more than 29 vehicles. It happened in the Towns Riverview Drive area, an area investigators say they've responded to crimes like this before. Investigators from the sheriff's department say the graffiti is gang related. They urge people to be aware of what is happening in their neighborhood. "If they are aware of activity where there is a suspect, they should certainly call law enforcement and let us know, this can be checked out, especially an area of high occurrence rates, as we have in this area," said undersheriff John Andrews.

Elko County sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a 34-year-old Kansas man who collapsed in a canyon in northeast Nevada's Ruby Mountains. The sheriff's office says Jamon Michael Lewis of Olathe was on foot and by himself. Authorities found him unconscious in Soldier Creek Canyon Wednesday. A helicopter and ambulance were dispatched to the area but paramedics were unable to revive him. Deputies said in a statement Friday they suspect Lewis died of a heat stroke.

Wichita authorities are considering criminal charges after finding 31 dead catsin a home last weekend. Police say a 69-year-old woman lived at the residence and claimed ownership of the cats. She told police she was staying at a friend's house, but was checking on the animals. Police say she may have violated Kansas cruelty to animals law for abandoning the pets. "Basically what she told investigators on the site that day is that she had been coming by daily to check on the animals. She was unaware we had any problem.

Firefighters are keeping an eye on what's left of a grass fire in Rice County. The fire started Friday afternoon in the southwestern part of the county. Several wheat fields were on fire. Authorities tell Eyewitness News, the fire is essentially under control, and they'll keep and eye on it through the night. No one was hurt and no structured burned. Sparks from a passing train are believed to have started the fire.

Wichita police are called to an aggravated robbery at Church's Chicken Saturday night. Authorities say they were called to the fast food restaurant in the 500 block of North West Street around 10:30pm. Two suspects entered the business. One was armed with a black semi automatic handgun. They made off with an unknown amount of cash. A witness was the one who called police after they saw the robbery in progress. No one was hurt.

A 24 year-old man is arrested after authorities find 36 pounds of marijuana-laced candy bars in his vehicle. Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol pulled over the 2001 Mercedes E320 Monday near Kearney, Nebraska for driving on the shoulder. A drug dog indicated a marijuana odor in the rear of the vehicle. (AP) - Authorities have identified a Scott City woman and three children who died in a house fire in the western Kansas town. The fire on Saturday killed 28-year-old Jackie Ann Coberly and her son, 4-year-old Brandon Carter. Eight-year-old Terra Renee Murphy and 6-year-old Cassie Linn Murphy also died. They were the daughters of Coberly's boyfriend. Scott City Police Chief Chris Jurgens said Monday the fire is believed to be accidental but an investigation is continuing.

A home in western Kansas catches fire, killing a mother and three children. That happened Saturday morning in Scott City. One of the children died at the scene. The mother and the two other children were flown to Wichita where they died later that day. The children ages ranged from 4-8. Authorities tell eyewitness news that one child was the mothers and the other two were her boyfriends. Officials have ruled out arson and are still looking into a cause. The Hutchinson News reported the fire started in the laundry room of the two-bedroom home.
