Wichita police are looking for a man who broke into a home in S. Wichita early Monday morning.  It happened around 5:30 am in the 5300 block of S. Pattie. Police tell us a 14-year-old who was getting ready for school noticed a man in the home with a gun.   The man made off with cash and property, but no one was hurt.

A thief breaks into the Leekers grocery story in Park City and makes off with a large amount of prescription painkillers. Police say the store's alarm went off just before two o'clock Friday morning. Investigators say the thief stole drugs including morphine and lortab. Police have not made any arrests. A Wichita small business owner is upset about a recent burglary at his business. Craig Russell owns Absolute Auto Care near Central and Woodlawn. Last night, he received a call from police that someone had broke into his business. Russell does have surveillance video from his shop. In it you can see a man breaking in and then taking a TV off the wall. Russell says the most costly part of the burglary was the damage to his glass door. He says these unexpected costs are ones that can make or break a small business like his. "It's very frustrating," says Russell.

A burglary and two blocks away a dead body.  Police believe the two are connected. Homeowners found a 38-year-old man dead in their driveway Friday morning near 21st and Park Place. Police believe he bled to death. "This is where he laid, you can tell he bled and bled right there," said Sherri Dills. She woke up Friday morning to the commotion of a dead body in her neighbor's driveway. "Absolutely freaked me out. "  The man was covered in blood, lying next to the homeowner's truck.

Wichita police thank a man who they say helped them catch a burglar.  Police tell us a man was watching over his neighborhood when he noticed a stranger rummaging through his neighbor's garage in the 100 block of S. Dellrose.  That witness too cell phone pictures of the person, his vehicle and its license plate.  He then gave that information and the pictures to police officers who were able track the man down to a home in the 5100 block...

By Denise Hnytka (WICHITA, Kan.) A burglary, a fight, and a vehicle in flames. It all began around one-thirty Friday afternoon. That's when Wichita police say a man broke into a home near West 37th and Arkansas. It ended near 53rd and Porter, when the suspect crashed his truck into a tree. "I can't verbally explain the hatred and aggression I have for this person right now," said Jason Kurtz.  He's talking about the man who broke into his childhood home and beat up his brother.

Wichita police believe they have put a stop to a business theft ring. There have been 47 burglaries across Wichita in the las two month. Now, two men are in jail accused of about half of the cases.  Forty-three year-old Jerry Holt is charged with 26 burglaries and 21 thefts.  Twenty-six year-old Jason D. Nodal is charged with 17 counts of burglary and 16 counts of theft. Police say they're not looking for any other suspects in the rest of the cases. "I think the biggest problem is the economy.

"Why would somebody want to do this to us kids?" Eighteen-year-old Christian Gard says.  "What did we do to you?" That's the $8,000 question. It's what the Hub--which is Peabody's non-profit teen center--is out after a break-in.     The back door glass was smashed out.  Gone are the televisions, video games and all but one laptop computer.  There was also cash from a garage sale fundraiser that had not yet been put in the bank.  "It was heartbreaking just hearing about it," 17-year-old Fred Winsor says.

Several tips lead to the arrest of two people accused of burglary at an Andover convenience store. On July 8, 2010, at 4:30 in the morning, Andover police officers responded to a burglary alarm at a convenience store. Surveillance video shows about ten minutes earlier, a white four door passenger car, possibly an Oldsmobile, pulled up to the store. The video shows a white male and white female shooting the glass door. Once inside, the female took at least one case of beer while the male shot one of the cash registers.

Over the past five years, Wichita has averaged about 3,000 home burglaries each year.   Homeowners are now turning to a tool that was once only common in businesses.  Home surveillance systems have become the fastest growing trend in home security. "It will be common. Pretty soon when someone builds a home they'll install it like telephone service," said Jacob Fields with 360 Security Solutions in Hutchinson. Costs continue to decrease while quality increases.  A homeowner can get a basic system with a DVR and four cameras for under a $1,000 now. "Why protect your business and not your house?"

A Wichita man has been booked into the Cowley County jail in connection to a series of burglaries. Gerald Smith, 63, was arrested in Sedgwick County Tuesday, and transported to the Cowley County jail. The Arkansas City Traveler reports he has been charged with residential burglary, theft and criminal damage to property. Authorities said Smith is facing similar charges in other jurisdictions. Smith remains behind bars on $65,000 bond. The case remains under investigation.

Two Derby men have been arrested in connection to vandalizing a local Walmart. The police department said Harrison Schroeder, 22, and Skyler Williams, 23, were arrested Thursday. They are being held in the Sedgwick County jail on burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property. Police said the men broke into the Neighborhood Market store, 1106 S. Rock Rd., last month. The store was under construction. Survelliance video captured the suspects using construction equipment to vandalize the store.

Three women are wanted in connection to a string of recent burglaries in Sedgwick County. Authorities are wanting to question the women for several crimes that occurred March 19. The Sedgwick County Sheriff's department is looking for a yellow, box-like truck that may be connected to a string of recent burglaries. Investigators said the vehicle, which is similar to a moving truck, may have been parked outside of homes and businesses that have been crime targets. The burglaries occurred across the county, from extreme northern and southern Sedgwick county, and stretching out to near Clearwater. Theives are looking for electronics and personal items that can be used for forgery or identity theft.

Reno County authorities are looking for burglars who made off with 13 guns from a home in the northeast part of the county. According to Sheriff Randy Henderson, someone broke into a home on Sunday and stole the guns, two compound bows and a game camera.   A group of mostly teenagers are in jail - after breaking into a elderly couple's home and trashing the place. They got caught after they started shooting off guns they stole from the home in a Wichita neighborhood. The elderly couple that owns the home is out of town. A neighbor was watching their home when officers tell us a grandson of that neighbor stole the key and broke into the home.  Officers say three teenage boys and a young man vandalized the place, drawing graffiti and puncturing holes in the walls.

Authorities arrest a man wanted in three counties for metal theft and burglaries. That comes after two car chases and, apparently, a canoe ride. It's a normally quiet part of rural Sedgwick County, along the Ninnescah River.  At least it was until an unexpected visitor dropped in Wednesday night. "Out here we don't get a lot of activity like that," laughs Glen Mourning, who saw some of the chase Wednesday night. Mourning counted 14 squad cars, lights flashing.  They were chasing a suspected metal thief all the way from Kingman County.  They used spike strips to puncture his tires.  Then, he ran away.

Butler county deputies arrest a burglary suspect after tracking him down in Andover. Lehman was caught Thursday afternoon after the owner of The Barn Guys found him hiding out in his shop. The suspect ran but police were able to make an arrest. Billy Page says he couldn't believe his eyes when he came to work at The Barn Guys Thursday morning. "I got close enough to see in the window, I seen the suspect dart out of the offices and run through the center part of the shop and out back," says Page.
