Emergency crews were called to the scenes of two crashes this morning, one in Sedgwick County - the other in Butler County. The first crash happened around 7:50 this morning at Satchel Creek Road and Highway 54 just east of El Dorado in Butler County. One person was transported with potentially critical injuries.  Several others suffered minor injuries. Photos from I-235 Crash Scene Crews were also called to the scene of a crash at I-235 just south of Central in Wichita.

The election is months away, but the race for Butler County Sheriff is heating up. Some are accusing candidate Carl Enterkin of not living in Butler County. He says it's not true. “I chose to live over here before the electoral process began for sheriff,” Enterkin tells FactFinder 12. Enterkin began renting an apartment in Andover in March. FactFinder 12 checked out the apartment and talked with several neighbors who say they've never seen Enterkin.

Following a jail break in Ottawa County earlier this month, FactFinder 12 wanted to know more about how a program that houses state inmates in county jails works. We visited Butler County's jail, where on the inside you would never know the difference. “We run our jail like the prison runs its prison system,” says Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet. Butler County's jail looks and operates the same as a state prison, and for good reason. “I think back in to 2003.

33 year-old Nicholas Lindly of Atlanta was killed this morning when the semi-trailer truck he was driving crashed according to Kansas Highway Patrol. The accident happened three miles south of Leon in Butler County. Kansas Highway Patrol officials say Lindly was driving northbound on Cole Creek Road when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned in the ditch. The tanker Lindly was hauling contained liquid fertilizer.

A 19-year-old woman died in the hospital hours after her car was hit in Butler County.  The accident happened around 8:30 Monday morning at SW 12th and Butler Road, two miles south of Andover. Authorities say Wendy J. Garcia died after her car was hit. Police tell us a pickup t-boned a passenger car.  Investigators say a witness saw the car run a stop sign, but police say the sun may have been a factor. Three children in the pickup suffered minor bumps and bruises, but are okay.  The driver of the pickup is in serious condition.

Four people are in critical condition after a two vehicle accident at Highway 254 & Butler according to Butler County 911. Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet said Wichita resident Samsad Milia was driving southbound on Butler road with passengers in the vehicle. Herzet said Milia failed to break at the stop sign for the east bound traffic and hit a vehicle driven by El Dorado's resident Lesley Marshall. Both drivers and passengers were in critical condition and taken to Wesley Hospital.

A Baxter Springs man will spend the rest of his life in prison for raping a teenage girl.  69-year-old Steve White won't be eligible for parole for 25 years. The Baxter Springs man was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in Butler County.  Authorities say  he  was leasing some land in rural Butler County, back in 2007, that he used to train horses, give riding lesson and board horses. That's when the 13 year-old says the incident happened. Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet says the victim waited more than two years before telling her parents, who then told authorities.

Two people are arrested, accused of stealing a car that belongs to a Butler County Sheriff's deputy early this morning.  According to police, a Butler County Deputy had his personal vehicle stolen from Derby.  An off-duty Sedgwick County Deputy noticed that vehicle just minutes after it was reported stolen. The suspects led police on a chase that ended at 32nd Street South and Bonn after officers used spike strips to stop the vehicle. A man and woman in the car were arrested.

Police arrest two people after a chase that stretched from Wichita into Butler County.  It all started with a robbery at the Subway restaurant in the 300 block of S. Greenwich Road.  Police say the robber ordered sandwiches, then demanded money from the cash register.  He then got into a car driven by a woman and left the scene. A short time later, a sheriff's deputy noticed a vehicle matching the description from the robbery and tried to pull it over. The suspects gave chase, which led to 210 Street S. and Cole Creek Road in Butler County.

A Towanda man was airlifted to a Wichita hospital after rolling his van Friday. The accident happened around ten Friday morning in Butler County at Northwest 20th and Indianola Road. Sheriff's deputies say a 62-year-old man was driving east bound on NW 20th when he drove across some large ruts in the road.  He lost control and rolled the van several times.  He was ejected and partially trapped under the van.  Firefighters helped free the man from the wreckage.  He was then airlifted in critical condition.
