Pastor Jeffery Geske and his three-year old son Jacob are the only two survivors of their family. 37-year old Laura Geske, three-year old Joy and eight-year old Joshua were killed in a car accident. The father and son greet the congregation of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Salina on Easter Sunday as the Pastor prepares for his sermon. “I do not have anger and I'd ask that people not to have anger. I do ask God why,” said Geske. Why on a sunny day in January a red car crossed the median on I-7o near Topeka and smashed into their family van. His wife, Laura was driving.

After years of research and testing, a Kansas man became the first to receive the latest in prosthetic technology.  "It's not going to help everyone, but there's a lot out there that it will help," said Steve Martinez about his brand new fingers.  Eyewitness News was with him when he put them on for the first time.  It was a day full of joy, celebrations, and gratitude as he experienced the medical marvel. Martinez can barely contain his excitement as he tries out his new fingers.  Even while talking, he's constantly moving them around, enjoying the sensations.  Every word is accompanied by the clacking sound the metal framework makes.  He exclaims excitedly over each newly discovered ability, pointing, waving, typing.  "No mistakes!"

Slick roads led to a car accident in Valley Center Thursday.  Police say a man lost control on the ice at Meridian and Sheridan.  He hit an oncoming pick up truck. The SUV driver went to the hospital with potentially serious injuries.  Three others suffered minor injuries in the accident.

A man is rushed to the hospital in serious condition following a car accident in Reno County. The Reno County Sheriff's Department reports the victim was traveling near the west entrance of Cheney lake.  The driver failed to make the curve, and went into a ditch before going airborne, going over two trees. The vehicle caught fire while the driver was trapped inside.  A witnesses saw the fire, and pulled the driver from the vehicle. The driver was rushed to Via Christi - St. Francis hospital in Wichita, where he is currently in serious condition.

Two members of the Dodge City Community College basketball team are in the hospital after a crash.  The two car accident happened on US Highway 50 in Stafford County Thursday afternoon.  One passenger was flown to Via Christi in Wichita.  The other was taken to the hospital in Stafford County.   The Kansas Highway Patrol says the players were heading east when a truck pulling a livestock trailer pulled out in front of them.  19-year-old Tyler Hosman was driving when the accident happened.  26-year-old Anthony Phillips was his passenger.

A former Derby High student lost both legs after a weekend car accident in Lawrence.  Eighteen year-old Colby Liston and several friends were leaving a party around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.  They were getting into the back of an SUV that was stopped in the road when another vehicle struck them from behind.  Liston was pinned between the two vehicles, a police report said. The impact crushed his legs and sent some of his friends falling out of the back of the SUV and onto the street.

A woman is hurt and a natural gas line ruptured after a car accident Wednesday night near Topeka. The woman rolled her car near the East Topeka exit (SE 21st & Shiloh Ridge Lane) of the Kansas Turnpike. The gas line was part of an old rest area. For a time, drivers on the Turnpike were not allowed to exit at East Topeka and had to continue to the South Topeka exit instead. The exit reopened when Kansas Gas Service crews shut off the gas. The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Update: The Renwick School District releases the name of a teacher killed in a car accident Monday morning.  54-year-old Barbara Hunt, an elementary PE teacher died in the crash near Goddard.  Superintendent Tracy Bourne told us, "Grief counselors have been called in to help students and staff deal with the tragedy. " The crash happened around 6:30 Monday morning near  21st and 199th Street West.  Police say a construction pickup which was pulling a trailer collided with a car in the intersection.

Two people are killed, including a Fort Hays State University professor, and two others injured in a car accident in rural Ford County. It happened Sunday morning 7 miles west of Dodge City. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a vehicle traveling east on U.S. Highway 56 when it crossed the center line, hitting a car driven by Fred Ruda head on.  Ruda and his mother-in-law, Eleanor Sexson were killed.  His wife, Sherill, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The 19 year old driver of the other vehicle only received minor injuries.

A Wichita woman in a wheelchair was attacked with brass knuckles for her Coach purse, but the attacker did not get away. Instead the woman's boyfriend tackled the man and held him down until police got to the scene. "This one he hit me with the brass knuckles, he threw me down on this one and started going like this on this one," said victim Keeley McFann. She doesn't want her face on camera, McFann is showing us the bruises she got from an attack Monday night. She broke both legs in a car accident a few weeks ago and was outside her apartment on north Topeka in her wheelchair when a man came up from behind.
