Wichita State junior Camri Zwiesler and sophomore Emily Adney paced the Shockers with 13 kills each in a 3-0 sweep against SMU Tuesday night at Charles Koch Arena. WSU won, 25-15, 25-18 and 25-19. The Shockers improved to 7-2 on the season in front of a home crowd of 2,203, winning their fourth match in a row. Wichita State junior Mary Elizabeth Hooper led all players with 35 assists. Junior Sarah Waldorf, the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week, paced all players with 15 digs.

Wichita State fought back from an 11-point halftime deficit to tie the score midway through the second half, but Evansville went on to defeat the Shockers, 74-66, to open Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball play Friday at Charles Koch Arena. Senior guard Morgan Boyd scored 17 points to lead Wichita State. Sophomore center Jazimen Gordon pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds and blocked six shots for the Shockers. The rebound total matched her career high and her six blocks set a new career high for Gordon.

Wichita State's Final Four men's basketball team were recognized during a ceremony Monday night. The free celebration was held at Charles Koch Arena. The Voice of the Shockers Mike Kennedy hosted with comments from Gregg Marshall, assistant coaches and selected players. The Spirit Squad, Dance Team and Band was also be recognized. The event replaced the annual banquet.

Four Shockers reached double figures as the Wichita State men’s basketball team defeated Newman University, 80-62, in front of a crowd of 10,353 at Charles Koch Arena Wednesday night. Garrett Stutz paced WSU with 14 points, shooting a perfect four-for-four from the field and adding seven boards. Toure’ Murry (10 points), Joe Ragland (10 points), and J.T. Durley (10 points) also reached double figures. The Shockers out rebounded Newman 50 to 28, and were led by Ehimen Orukpe’s 11 boards.

The W.S.U. Shocker team arrived at Mid-Continent airport around 4:45 Friday afternoon. The players, Head Coach Gregg Marshall, the WSU band and cheerleaders were all greeted by a few fans and by Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer and city council members. Wichita police will escort the team to Koch Arena for a celebration with the public. ------------------ A warm welcome home for the Wichita State Shockers tonight. The university will celebrate the team's 2011 NIT Championship at Charles Koch Arena tonight. The team will arrive by charter flight shortly after 4:00 this afternoon.

Wichita State University says farewell to President Don Beggs and his wife Shirley. The campus and community were invited to a reception Thursday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena. President Beggs is retiring after 13 years with the university. He and his wife are moving to Illinois to be closer to their family. "These are the people who really are Wichita State. We've had the privilege of representing them and being brought into the group. as Shirley said this is by far the toughest emotional part for us," Beggs told Eyewitness News.

Alex Harden's 18 points led Wichita State to a 50-36 non-conference victory over UTSA Sunday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena. Harden, a sophomore from Springfield, Ill. was the only Shocker in double figures going 8-for-10 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Wichita State (2-1) outscored UTSA (3-1), 29-11, in the first half holding the Roadrunners to 13% shooting. WSU held the rebounding edge, 26-15. The Shockers started the game on an 8-1 run culminating with Michelle Price's layup with 12:57 remaining.

The Wichita State Shockers look for their 8th straight win when they host Evansville on Wednesday night. Wichita State (17-3, 8-1) beat Evansville (10-9. 5-4) at the Ford Center 67-66 earlier this season. Garrett Stutz scored 29 points in that first game against the Purple Aces which is bad news for the Shockers considering the big man is a game-time decision for Wichita State. Stutz is still battling a strained rhomboid muscle. Game-time is set for 7 pm at Charles Koch Arena.

The Wichita State Shockers defeated the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 71-49 in front of a crowd of 10,173 at Charles Koch Arena Monday night. Junior Toure' Murry had a season high 20 points with four rebounds and four assists for the Shockers and Graham Hatch added his season high of 16 points for WSU. Alabama A&M was led by Cornelius Hester who had 17 points for the Bulldogs. Murry's first eight points helped the Shockers take a 13-9 lead going into the first media timeout at 15:14.

Wichita State arrived to a hero's welcome at Koch Arena Sunday, fresh off their win over Gonzaga sending the Shockers to the Sweet 16. WSU heads back to the fourth round for the first time since 2006. Fans piled into the Roundhouse to welcome back Wichita State, and Gregg Marshall fired up the troops with chants of, "You don't want to go to war with Wichita State!" Marshall said this ride that his team is on currently, is unlike anything he's ever been a part of. "I've never gone into the second weekend before, I've won games but not multiple games and now we have an opportunity to win even more," Marshall said by the locker room.
