Wichita State extended their winning streak to six games Thursday night against the Drake Bulldogs with a final score of 63-41. Jessica Diamond led three Shockers in double-figures with 13 points. Jazimen Gordon pitched in 12 points while reigning Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week Chynna Turner continued her strong start to the conference season with 11 points. In the first half the Shockers, (9-5, 3-0) raced out to an early 8-2 lead with all eight points coming from inside the paint.

Undefeated and 18th ranked UNLV (8-0) comes into the Roundhouse on Sunday to take on the Wichita State Shockers (4-2). The Shockers are coming off a 75-60 victory over Cal State Fullerton this past Thursday at Koch Arena. Carl Hall led Wichita State in scoring with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Joe Ragland added 15 points while David Kyles recorded 14 against the Titans. UNLV comes in with a strong resume, just beating top-ranked North Carolina this past Saturday, 90-80. The Runnin' Rebels will be the second top-25 team the Shockers have faced this season.

Wichita State rallied in thrilling fashion to defeat No. 22 Oklahoma, 3-2, in the Shockers' home opener at Charles Koch Arena Wednesday. The Shockers lost the first two sets before winning the final three by scores of, 25-27, 23-25, 25-18, 29-27 and 15-13. Emily Adney led the Shockers with 22 kills. Mary Elizabeth Hooper paced all players with 64 assists and Sarah Waldorf led the Shockers with 33 digs. The first set was a back-and-forth affair that featured lengthy rallies and 11 ties.

The Wichita State Shockers dominate Nebraska in the first round of the NIT. Final Score: Nebraska 49 WSU 76 The 4th-seeded Shockers easily beat Nebraska, a No. 5 seed. J.T Durley and David Kyles were the leading scorers for Wichita State, which now has its 25th win this season. The big lead brought the crowd at Charles Koch Arena to its feet within the last two minutes of the game.

The Wichita State Shockers are a No. 4 seed in the N.I.T. tournament and are set to face Nebraska in the first round. The first round game will be this Wednesday at 6 pm at Charles Koch Arena. Season ticket holders will have until eleven o'clock on Monday morning to request tickets for the NIT game. Non-season ticket holders will be able to purchase tickets starting at one o'clock on Monday. The game will also be broadcast on ESPN2.

The Wichita State Shockers started 2011 with a victory on Sunday by defeating the Southern Illinois Salukis, 76-51 at Charles Koch Arena in front of a crowd of 1,151. Michelle Price and Haleigh Lankster each scored 15 points to lead Wichita State. Terri Oliver paced the Salukis with 16 points and Cici Shannon added a double double with 11 points and ten boards. Price scored seven straight points, the last on a jumper, to give the Shockers a 20-11 lead at the 10:37 mark in the first half.

Wichita State fought back from an 11-point halftime deficit to tie the score midway through the second half, but Evansville went on to defeat the Shockers, 74-66, to open Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball play Friday at Charles Koch Arena. Senior guard Morgan Boyd scored 17 points to lead Wichita State. Sophomore center Jazimen Gordon pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds and blocked six shots for the Shockers. The rebound total matched her career high and her six blocks set a new career high for Gordon.

The Wichita State women's basketball team defeated Savannah State, 67-41, Friday in front of 9,831 fans inside Charles Koch Arena for the annual School House Rocks with the Shocks game. Friday's attendance total marked the fourth-largest home crowd in Wichita State women’s basketball history. Breanna Dawkins, Morgan Boyd and Michelle Price each had 10 points for the Shockers. Savannah State's Darice Fountaine - a Kapaun Mt. Carmel HS graduate - was the game's leading scorer with 25 points.

Sophomore guard Jessica Diamond posted a game-high 18 points for Wichita State, but the Shockers fell, 81-72, in overtime to Arizona in Friday's women's basketball regular-season opener at Charles Koch Arena. Diamond scored 16 points in the second half as the two teams exited regulation tied, 67-67, after Arizona erased the Shockers' 15-point second-half lead. The Shockers had chances to win the game in the final 28 seconds of regulation with the score tied, but two missed layups and four missed free throws, including two from Chynna Turner with .2 seconds left on the clock forced overtime.

For the first time in more than 50 years, Wichita State will play a men's basketball game in downtown Wichita. Wichita State's Athletic Director announced Wednesday the Shockers will play Tulsa at INTRUST Bank Arena. “This is a partnership opportunity for WSU, Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita for the Shockers to play basketball in a great venue," said AD Eric Sexton in a news release. "INTRUST Bank Arena must also host a Division I basketball game this year as part of these same partners bringing the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament event to Wichita in the spring, so the Tulsa game made sense for a lot of reasons.
