It will not be as cool tonight across Kansas with south winds continuing around the area. Although the wind will diminish some after sunset, we still expect south winds between 10 and 20 mph. High thin clouds will be moving in Wednesday afternoon as a cold front pushes across the state. Northern Kansas will see slightly cooler temperatures for Wednesday, while southern half of the state will still be in the lower 70s. Looks like we will remain dry. Scattered storms may develop over central and northern Kansas on Thursday as a warm front begins to move back across Kansas.

Wednesday's cold front  will take the edge off of our hot temperatures this afternoon.  Look for highs in the upper-80s to mid-90s statewide under sunny to mostly sunny skies. Our heat break will be short-lived however as upper 90s and triple digits return Friday and stick around through the weekend. A few isolated storms are possible over northwest Kansas late Friday and Saturday but it looks like a better shot of storms will enter our weather picture Sunday into early Monday when the next cold front arrives.

It will not be as cool tonight in Kansas as the winds are expected to stay out of the south. Ahead of the next cold front on Wednesday, south winds are expected to be rather strong with temperatures closing in on 80 degrees in southwest Kansas. The fire danger will be very high Wednesday afternoon. Elsewhere, afternoon highs will be well into the 70s by the end of the day with some increase in cloud cover. The cold front will bring a chance for scattered showers to northwest and northcentral Kansas Wednesday night, but the activity will remain very isolated.

Look for clear to mostly clear skies across Kansas overnight as lows dip to the 40s.  Light winds will prevail. We'll see the breeze and temperatures pick up quickly on Saturday.  Southerly winds will be gusty at times especially in central and western Kansas.  Afternoon highs will be summer-like in the lower to middle 80s for most.  Sunny to mostly sunny skies will be the rule. A cold front will zip through early Sunday.  While no moisture will be present for a rain chance, we do see a bit of a drop in the thermometer.  Highs Sunday will top out in the 60s and 70s. A more powerful cold front will work through late Monday.  Look for gusty winds behind it and much chillier weather.  Highs will only reach the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, with lows Wednesday morning and Thursday morning in the 30s, including in the Wichita area!
