Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein is back on the field. Klein, one of the top Heisman Trophy candidates, started Saturday night for the third-ranked Wildcats at TCU. Klein sustained an apparent head injury in the third quarter of last Saturday's 44-30 victory against Oklahoma State. He didn't take another snap after scoring his 50th career rushing touchdown. Wildcats coach Bill Snyder had said little about Klein's situation all week, other than expressing hope that the senior quarterback would play.

Kansas State is the No. 1 ranked team in the country. The Wildcats are 10-0 with two games left in the regular season. Collin Klein is a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy. Everyone seems to be going K-State's way in its run to a national title. Now, Klein is on the cover of this week's Sports Illustrated. Klein is the first Wildcat football player to grace the magazine's cover. He has 2,020 passing yards with 12 touchdowns and only three interceptions. So what about the Sports Illustrated 'curse'?

Former Illinois cornerback Terry Hawthorne had a fumble recovery to set up a touchdown and an interception in the second half to help the West defeat the East 28-13 in the East-West Shrine Game on Saturday. The West never trailed in the college showcase for NFL hopefuls and was sparked by a defense that had four turnovers, including an interception return for a score by former Kansas State cornerback Nigel Malone. It also got a strong offensive effort from former Texas A&M running back Christine Michael, who rushed for 42 yards and touchdown.

(AP) Kansas State 's Collin Klein has had an extended break to recover from all the bumps and bruises. The hard-nosed running quarterback says he's feeling good going into Friday night's Cotton Bowl for Kansas State against seventh-ranked Arkansas in a matchup of 10-2 teams. The game comes five weeks after the 11th-ranked Wildcats played their regular season finale. Klein has more rushing attempts than passing attempts (293 to 251). His 26 rushing touchdowns are one short of matching the Big 12 record held by 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams and the FBS record for quarterbacks set by Navy's Ricky Dobbs two years ago. Receiver Chris Harper says as remarkable as the stats are, Klein is still standing and healthy after taking a pounding all season.

Collin Klein is ready to represent Kansas State University in New York this weekend. But, he says he sees the Heisman Trophy as more of a team honor than an individual one. Before heading to NYC for the Heisman Trophy ceremony, the senior quarterback will make a stop in Baltimore Friday to receive the Johnny Unitas Award. The award is given annually to the nation's top four year signal-caller-before heading to the Big Apple on Saturday morning. Klein joins Texas A&M's Johnny Manzeil and Manti Te'o of Notre Dame as finalist for the 78th awarding of the Heisman.

Collin Klein scored on a sneak in the fourth overtime Saturday night, his sixth touchdown of the game, giving No. 17 Kansas State a dramatic 53-50 victory over Texas A&M. Klein threw for a career-high 281 yards and added 103 yards on the ground for the Wildcats (8-2, 5-2 Big 12), who rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final 6 minutes of regulation to hand the Aggies (5-5, 3-4) their third consecutive loss. The Aggies had the ball first in the fourth overtime and moved down to the Kansas State 3 before their drive stalled.

There was cheering from the Texas contingent when Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy last night, in another example of the blurring lines of journalism. I know the good old days weren't always so good, but that would have never happened twenty years ago. For the second year in a row a quarterback from Texas - that the University of Texas didn't pursue - has won a Heisman. I wonder how that sits with the QB challenged folks in Austin? After a season when Manziel wasn't allowed to speak to the media, the freshman certainly made up for it in New York.

Once heir apparent to Heisman Trophy finalist Collin Klein, Kansas State quarterback Daniel Sams will face some serious competition thanks to the signing of junior college transfer Jake Waters. Out of all 32 members of the recruiting class announced by Kansas State on Wednesday, Waters might spark the most interest. He directed Iowa Western Community College to a national championship last season, passing for 3,501 yards. Prior to Waters' commitment, many had considered Sams the favorite for the starting job in 2013.

The Wildcats are in Arizona preparing for Thursday's Fiesta Bowl game against the Oregon Ducks. Bruce and Jenn are following all of the Fiesta Bowl action from the University of Phoenix. They'll update this blog throughout the week, so be sure to check back often. Bruce's Blog: Game Day Oregon coach was only half joking when he said of visiting with the media early yesterday morning-that, at least his day couldn't get any worse.  The fact that Kelly has all sorts of NFL rumors swirling around him probably has a lot to do with the sentiment, but it's also time to play a football game instead of talk about it.  Not that it will keep me from doing exactly that.

I went from the Little Apple to the big one, apparently, to cover a player I voted for -not win the Heisman Trophy. The pundits, many of them self-described, say that Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel will win the award given annually to college football's best player. Five of the last six Davey O'Brien winners (nation's top quarterback) have gone on to claim the Heisman. Last night in Orlando, Manzeil won the O'Brien Award. I wouldn't contest a Manziel win in New York, I did have him third on my ballot-- but Collin Klein is my winner.

Collin Klein arrived in New York City early Saturday via train looking a little worn out from a whirl wind week that included stops in Orlando, Baltimore and the Big Apple. I'm sure Klein would rather be back in his Manhattan breaking down tape of Oregon, but for now he's repping K-State - and who better to do it?
