It probably leads to more complaints than anything else we do....weather coverage interupting shows. After dealing with the issue and listening to complaints for decades...here is the conclusion I've come to. There are really two very different groups of viewers watching at any one time. One group has the television on because they want to see the sitcom, drama, sports broadcast, game show or whaever is on. Unless there is a tornado approaching their specific area, they don't want weather interuptions.

A local company that's been providing safe rides for drunk drivers is being questioned about its business practices. There are several complaints directed at Safe Riders Inc. for the way it charges customers for a ride home. Kimberly Davis says she was trying to do the responsible thing by arranging for a ride home, so that she and her husband wouldn't have to drive home drunk from a holiday party. So she made a reservation with Safe Riders Inc., a designated driving service that she's used in the past with no problems---until now. Safe Riders charged her debit card even though she and her husband paid the driver in cash.

We've all had them. That annoying neighbor who lets their dog bark at all hours or maybe that guy who decides to mow his lawn at 6 a.m. every Saturday morning when you're trying to sleep in. We get it. These are not earth-shattering issues or big crimes but rather little neighborhood nuisances that can affect your quality of life. Here are some of the most common neighborhood nuisances.  These ordinances are in Wichita, but most of these are against city code in some form or fashion for residents of other cities and towns across Kansas.  Check with your local police or city hall for more information.

Barely hired, and then fired -- for the color of his skin.  That's what the NAACP alleges happened in the Reno County town of Nickerson last year.  The organization has now filed a complaint against the city. There are about 1,100 people in the town of Nickerson, Kansas .  It doesn't have a permanent police chief -- she resigned last year.  A complaint filed by the NAACP may show why. She had recently hired an officer for the city police in Nickerson," said NAACP spokesman Darrell Pope in Hutchinson.
