By Roger Cornish (WICHITA, Kan.) Star Wars: In Concert is coming to Wichita. The multimedia event will be at the INTRUST Bank Arena for two performances May 22. Star Wars in Concert features music for all six of John Williams' scores from the movie series. The production features a full symphony orchestra and choir, accompanied by specially edited footage from the films on a three-story high-definition LED screen. Tickets to Star Wars in Concert go on sale March 13th.

Van Halen has cancelled its September 17 concert at Wichita's Intrust Bank Arena. Arena officials say if you ordered tickets by internete and/or over the phone, you will receive a phone call prior to processing the refund. Those calls started Monday morning. If you purchased tickets at the arena box office or a Dillon store, you should visit the Intrust Bank Arena box office at 500 E. Waterman in Wichita. The box office is open 10-6 weekdays, and 10-3 on Saturdays.

by Kim Hynes (WICHITA, Kan.) The cold was the only complaint from those headed to the Brad Paisley concert Saturday.   Doors opened at six o'clock for the first concert at the Intrust Bank Arena. Many people arrived early to find a parking space. Large signs and parking attendants stood at the entrance of each parking lot. People paid cash as they drove in and parked their cars.  Brian and Tricia Petz say the process was easier than they expected. They drove through the area earlier in the week to get a feel for the parking.

In consideration of potential threatening weather, the pre-concert KFDI 'Party on the Plaza' has been relocated to the Hyatt Regency Wichita. The free concert featuring country artist Eric Paslay will take place in the Hyatt's lobby at 400 W. Waterman. Start time is 5:00 p.m. The Hyatt Regency offers complimentary shuttle service for Hyatt patrons to INTRUST Bank Arena events. The Miranda Lambert concert is still scheduled as planned. Radio stations and other media wishing to set-up on site prior to the concert should use their best judgment in determining whether conditions are safe for outside activities.

With barely enough room to fit everyone inside the Murdock Theater, Linda Grant wasted no time picking a seat Saturday night. "A lot of times we want to get involved and we really don't know how to, so this was an opportunity to get involved and to contribute. " She and more than 500 others pack the theater to hear a little music and give their support to a cause they fear is being forgotten. Money raised from Saturday night's event will go towards supporting those in Haiti, recovering from a January earthquake.

Organizers with the Wichita River Festival announce that Sunday's Kellie Pickler/David Nail concert will be played inside at Century II due to pending weather. The concert was scheduled to be at the West Bank Stage. Today's other activities will continue as scheduled, weather permitting.

There will be a concert this Sunday to benefit the Geske family. Jeff Geske is the Salina Pastor that lost three family members in a car wreck near Topeka last month.  Geske's wife, Laura, 37, daughter, Joy, 3, and son, Joshua, 8, were killed Jan. 28 in a head-on collision on Interstate Highway 70 west of Topeka. He and his 3-year-old son, Jacob, survived the crash. Those who attend a Feb. 12 concert at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 743 E. Magnolia, will have a chance to contribute to a fund supporting Pastor Jeff Geske of Christ the King Lutheran Church and his family.

Kansas is celebrating its 150 th birthday on Saturday, October 8 th . Wichita will host a Kansas Sunflower Parade; a fair with historic reenactors, and Kansas attractions and vendors of food, arts and cultural products. The events will conclude with a “Home on the Range” concert that tells the history of Kansas in song, poetry and video.  People from across the state are welcome to join in the celebration. Towns, cities, high schools, universities, civic organizations, companies and reenactors are invited to put floats and marching units in the Kansas Sunflower Parade to show off their unique part of Kansas' history and heritage.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are coming to Wichita. The band will perform at INTRUST Bank Arena on April 26. Tickets are $99.50, $65 and $40 (with additional fees) Tickets go on sale Friday, January 13 at 10:00  at the arena box office and Select-a-Seat.  A lottery system will be in use for the sale. The group known for hits like "American Girl", "Learning to Fly" and "Don't Come Around Here No More" will play nine U.S. and a couple in Canada before touring Europe for the first time in 20 years.

Close to two thousand Adam Lambert fans started lining up early for the show. The American Idol runner up was performing at the Cotillion Ballroom Friday evening. Some fans drove from as far away as Dallas, Texas and started waiting at 10am. "We had a boom box out here that was blasting some music for awhile," said Jenna Sinclair who drove from Dallas. "It's been fun. A lot of good company. " Fans like her said it was important to get there early because the closer they could get to the stage, they say the better the show will be for them.

A Kansas boy is quickly becoming the talk of the town as the next piano man. Mason Lough, 11, made headlines when he played "Colder Weather" at the Zac Brown Band concert at Intrust Bank Arena last weekend. It's that song that's music to everyone's ears around the web. The 11-year-old has been playing piano since he was 3 years old. He started with "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and has worked his way up to some of the classics. Mason says one of his dreams came true last weekend when the band invited him on stage in Wichita to play his favorite song "Colder Weather.

National stars and diverse talents are scheduled to take the stage during Wichita's Riverfest this summer. Chris Mann will perform opening night, May 31. He will be accompanied by the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. Mann is a Wichita native and a finalist for NBC's "The Voice. " Saturday, June 1, Mike Finnigan and the Phantom Blues Band will entertain with its eclectic mix of Texas Blues, Memphis Soul, and Jamaican R&B. The two-time Grammy award-winning group has performed with Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Elton John, and others.

Rascal Flatts canceled its concert this weekend at INTRUST Bank Arena because of illness.  The band says it will reschedule concerts in Wichita and Tulsa. The concert in Wichita will now take place on Friday August 9th.  The Band Perry will also perform at the rescheduled show.  All original tickets for the show will be honored on the new dates. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled concert, refunds are available at the point of purchase.

The September 17 Van Halen concert at INTRUST Bank Arena has been postponed. The band has cancelled more than 30 shows after its June 26 concert in New Orleans. There's no explanation as to why the concerts were cancelled or when and if they'll be rescheduled. Other cancelled shows include Salt Lake City, El Paso, Philadelphia , Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Memphis, Spokane, Reno, Fresno and Milwaukee. The arena's website says those seeking refunds should call 316-755-SEAT (7328)

Hip hop artist Sean Paul was the headliner at a concert at Doc Howard's in Old Town Thursday night. His concert drew a close to capacity crowd of about 1400 people. Security was tight, to help cut down an any violence. Doc Howard's is the largest night club in Kansas. It's one of only a few places in Wichita that can handle a crowd that big. Whenever it has a big concert, months of planning goes into security to try to prevent any problems. Every person who walks through Doc Howard's door is checked for ID and wanded by security guards.

It seems like these days there's rarely a free concert, especially from national recording artists. Well guess what? Here in Wichita we are in luck! Drew Holcomb performs with The Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors band. His wife, Ellie, performs alongside him. They've opened for acts like Ryan Adams and The Avett Brothers (who will in fact be here in early March…but not for free). They've gained a following across the country due to their extensive touring. We are so lucky because they will be stopping in Wichita this month for a FREE, all ages show!
