Close to two thousand Adam Lambert fans started lining up early for the show. The American Idol runner up was performing at the Cotillion Ballroom Friday evening. Some fans drove from as far away as Dallas, Texas and started waiting at 10am. "We had a boom box out here that was blasting some music for awhile," said Jenna Sinclair who drove from Dallas. "It's been fun. A lot of good company. " Fans like her said it was important to get there early because the closer they could get to the stage, they say the better the show will be for them.

The Jonas Brothers have canceled their show at INTRUST Bank Arena. The announcement came Friday. They were scheduled to perform at INTRUST Bank Arena on August 3. According to a press release, the Jonas Brothers made changes to their world tour schedule to add shows in Latin America and Europe. Like any seven and nine year old girls, Allison and Lauren Wolf giggle when they talk about the Jonas Brothers. "Because they are nice boys, I think," said Allison. "Yeah, what she said, " joked Lauren.

Press release from Hartman Arena: Singer Miranda Cosgrove's scheduled concert for Friday, August 12 at Hartman Arena has been postponed after the singer was injured in a tour bus accident in Illinois. The rescheduled date will likely be announced tomorrow. Teen Sensation Cody Simpson will still take the stage to do a free show for those who have tickets to tomorrow night's performance. Rascal Flatts canceled its concert this weekend at INTRUST Bank Arena because of illness.  The band says it will reschedule concerts in Wichita and Tulsa. The concert in Wichita will now take place on Friday August 9th.  The Band Perry will also perform at the rescheduled show.  All original tickets for the show will be honored on the new dates. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled concert, refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Hip hop artist Sean Paul was the headliner at a concert at Doc Howard's in Old Town Thursday night. His concert drew a close to capacity crowd of about 1400 people. Security was tight, to help cut down an any violence. Doc Howard's is the largest night club in Kansas. It's one of only a few places in Wichita that can handle a crowd that big. Whenever it has a big concert, months of planning goes into security to try to prevent any problems. Every person who walks through Doc Howard's door is checked for ID and wanded by security guards.

The City of Wichita announced details of this year's Wichita Flight Festival.  The 2011 Festival is set for August 20 & 21 at Jabara Airport. The theme for the two-day festival is "Fun of Flight" and will air acts from around the nation, a kid's zone, food concourse, radio-controlled demonstrations and a Fly Market vendor and education area. Another highlight is the Twilight Air Show and concert for Saturday night. All daytime activities are free. Admission to the Twilight Air Show & Concert is $5 and advance tickets are available through www.wichitatix.com.

It seems I've talked about jazz an awful lot lately but that's because there is some good stuff happening right here in Wichita!  So here I am again to tell you about another incredible concert you don't want to miss.  This Sunday, October 23 Joe Lovano and Us Five will be coming to Wichita to play at Abode Venue. The concert will feature Joe Lovano, James Weidman, 2011 Best New Artist Grammy Winner Esparanza Spalding, Francicso Mela and Otis Brown III. Also jazz duet Beau Jarvis and Randy Zellers, both of which are Friends University Fine Arts Jazz Faculty members, will be playing in the gallery during the VIP reception from 6pm - 7pm. The up side to this concert is that only 250 tickets will be sold, so this will truly be an intimate evening.

Pop super-star Jewel was in town March 28 for a concert sponsored by KFDI and Club Liquid to benefit the homeless in Wichita. She did a great acoustic set with some of her older hits and her new ones where she's making a change to the world of country music.
