If you heard the tornado sirens go off for a short time Monday you should know there was no severe weather threat. Instead, the sound was part of the "calibration process," according to Sedgwick County Emergency Manager Randy Duncan. Duncan tells Eyewitness News the calibration is part of the upgrade of tornado sirens in Sedgwick County. Calibration causes crews to activate the device for 30 seconds or less. "If you hear a device going off and the sky is sunny and it only lasts for a short period, odds are you're hearing part of the calibration procedure," says Duncan. He adds that crews will not calibrate the sirens if the skies are overcast or when there's a threat of severe weather.

Firefighters are battle a house fire in east Wichita. It broke out right around 5pm Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of north Broadview. When crews arrived they found heavy fire involvement inside the attic area. Wind conditions did make battling the blaze difficult. People inside the home were able to get out with no injuries. The fire is still under investigation but crews say it appears the origin is on the outside of the house. They say the fire started on the porch area and spread from the outside up into the attic area.
