Doors were locked at Newton High School Thursday. School officials say it was a precaution after one of their teachers was arrested Wednesday. According to Newton Police, 45-year-old Eden Bloom was asked to leave the school several times before a School Resource Officer arrested her. That's when they found methamphetamine in her possession. “At the time of the incident no students were in danger,” said Newton Police Deputy Chief Eric Murphy. Newton parents received an alert on Thursday afternoon around 1:30 that there was increased security at the school.

A man is hurt after crashing his motorcycle at 31st South and Broadway overnight. Passersby found the man in the road at around 2:00 Friday morning. Wichita police say the rider may have been going to fast and lost control when he turned too wide on 31st Street. The rider slide off the bike and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He's expected to be okay. 31st S. & Broadway was closed for around two hours while crews cleaned up the crash scene. Traffic is back to normal now.

Wichita police arrest a man accused of shooting another man at a bar early Tuesday morning. It happened at about 1:45 Tuesday morning in the 700 block of N. West Street near the intersection of Central and West. Officials say two men were arguing when one was shot in the leg. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition. Police brought a 26-year-old man and 26-year-old woman in for questioning, then booked the man for aggravated battery.

Fire officials in Hays are looking for what caused an early morning fire that gutted a local restaurant. Crews were called to K's Diner in the 3400 block of Vine Street shortly after 3:00 Monday morning. 20 firefighters and five trucks responded from Hays, and an additional truck and four firefighters were called in from Ellis County's rural fire department. Hays Fire Chief Gary Brown says crews found a large fire burning in the back of the building. They were able to get the fire under control in about an hour. The building sustained significant fire, heat and smoke damage throughout.

A woman is rushed to the hospital with potentially critical injuries after a crash in East Wichita. Emergency crews were called to Mt. Vernon and Webb Road after 8:00 this morning. No one else was hurt. No other details have been released.

An early morning fight leads to a robbery, and leaves one person in the hospital. It happened around 4:00am, in the 1100 block of North Cleveland in Wichita. Police say several women got into a fight at a party. During the altercation, one of the suspects got into a car, and sped away, hitting the 19-year-old victim. She was transported to the hospital with a broken leg. The victim and 3 other women had property stolen from them during fight. No arrests have been made.

A fifteen-year-old Hutchinson girl is killed after an early morning accident just west of Salina. Three other teens were hurt in the crash, but authorities say their injuries are not life-threatening. According to our news partners at The Salina Journal , the crash happened around 3:45 Thursday morning on State Street east of Burma Road. Fifteen-year-old Journi Maas of Hutch was thrown from the vehicle and killed. The other three victims, two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old were taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment.

A Hutchinson man is hospitalized after an early morning crash in Hutch early Thursday morning. It happened at Pershing and 4th around 2:20 am. Police tell us the 33-year-old driver was headed north on Pershing but didn't stop at the intersection at 4th Street. He collided with a semi that was headed west on 4th. After the collision, his car headed NW and came to rest after striking the Kwik Shop offices building in the 700 block of E....

A woman is taken into custody after leading Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputies on a chase overnight. It started shortly before 3:00 Tuesday morning near 63rd Street S. & Buckner in Derby. According to our news partners with KFDI , deputies were trying to stop a Chevy Blazer which had a stolen license plate. The woman didn't stop, and authorities chased her into Wichita for nearly a half-hour. She finally stopped in a cul-de-sac at Walnut and Maxwell in Wichita after Wichita police deployed stop-sticks to flatten her tires.
