If you need to lose weight it's all about cutting back on calories and you need all the help you can get. Consumer Reports ShopSmart says try "scaling back" your kitchen! The obvious first move is to get fattening snacks like chips and cookies off the counter and out of sight. ShopSmart's Sue Perry says your next move, rearrange the food in your cupboards! "You want to move the healthy stuff to the front and the fattening stuff to the back," Perry says.

Cooking up BBQ is how Brian Choy makes his living at When Pigs Fly. "I've always been passionate about providing food for people," he said. So when he heard about the devastating tornado in Joplin, he had an idea. "I thought well we have a trailer, we could cook food and take it down there. Before I knew it, we were going," Choy said. Before he could leave, he cooked one thousand hot dogs expecting to feed the masses in Missouri. "They probably don't have a hot meal, you know what I mean and that's something we can provide to them," he said. He's not the only one wanting to provide. When his vendors got word about what he was doing, they donated buns and chips. Then customers started showing up with cases of water, hand wipes and diapers. "It's been fantastic, the outpouring of help," he said.

Two people may be able to do a job faster, but sometimes you can’t find that second person to help out in the kitchen. That’s where the Baggy Rack comes in. The makers of the Baggy Rack say it can be that extra set of hands and turn a messy job into a simple one. We asked high school senior Josh Hudson to do a two-person job…ladling food into a storage bag. Josh has a hard time, and try as he might, he still gets food all over...

If you want out of the kitchen----and want to get out of all that chopping ---it's a product that claims to be just what you're looking for. It's the $20 Vidalia Chop Wizard, which claims it will cut large pieces of fruits and vegetables in one push. Our "pushers" are Wichita Chefs Colette Baptista and Dan Hypse, who agree to help us test it. But the directions say you can't get rid of your knife altogether. "You still have to have a knife to cut off the ends," remarks Dan. To use it, just put the food on the blades, and close the lid---pushing the food (this time an onion)

Chef Artaynia Westfall knows how important a good knife is. And she knows how bad a dull blade can be. “It’s frustrating!” What about a knife made out of ceramic? The Yoshi Blade claims it won’t rust, is sharp and will stay that way longer than your stainless steel knives. That is the “Good” list. The “Do Not” list it comes with is a lot longer. “Do not use on frozen food. Do not use on hard cheeses. Do not bend or twist,” Artaynia reads.

By Cliff Judy (SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan.) No story of genuine compassion and generosity comes without a need for it. The problem may not be pretty, but it's no less deserving. Julia Creed may only be 11 years old, but she gets this. "That's how it normally is," says the Hutchinson grade-schooler. "I just feel like I need to help someone. " A month and a half ago, Creed didn't know Carlos or Marcos Tharp. The boys have Epidermolysis Bullosa, a genetic disease that causes severe pain and makes their skin and organs extremely fragile.
