Those who like organic and natural foods have more shopping options than ever in Wichita, now one of the biggest names in the country is coming. Whole Foods Market announced it plans to build a 30,000 square-foot store on the east side, two other similar food stores opened on the east side in the last year. As you drive around Wichita you can clearly see there's a new trend. Organic and all-natural grocery stores are the "in" place to shop…but that hasn't always been the case.

Gardeners everywhere can help feed hungry Kansans. The Kansas Food Bank and the Sedgwick County Extension Office are asking for your help to put fresh produce on dinner tables. The Plant a Row for Hunger program was a national idea that went local 12 years ago. “I think it's a good cause,” said Ray Holt, a member of the Sedgwick County Extension Office's Master Gardeners program. The idea is to put fresh fruits and vegetables on tables that might not otherwise see them.

A familiar cuisine is back at Riverfest, but it's not sponsored by the same organization. For more than 25 years, Goodwill Industries sponsored the Cajun Food Fest, but this year, that's not the case. Riverfest, instead, is putting on it's own version of the Cajun Food Festival. In years past, the Cajun Food Festival was sponsored by Goodwill and it served as fundraiser for the charity. According to officials with Goodwill, Riverfest offered to move the Fest to Waterwalk Plaza, but Goodwill did not like the location. "When we looked at it and realized it was being marketed as an upscale environment and an after work crowd, we didn't feel like it was a fit for the Cajun Food Fest," said Gayle Goetz, of Goodwill Industries.

A couple charged in the death of a Salina toddler appear in court. 19-year-old Brittney Betzold and her boyfriend 27-year-old Antonio Brown were in court for a preliminary hearing. They are charged with first-degree-murder in last year's death of Betzold's 14-month old son Clayden Urbanek. The judge spent much of the day hearing about Clayden's injuries. Trauma manager Rachelle Giroux works at Salina Regional Medical Hospital. She says Clayden was in grave condition when he was brought in by paramedics in October of 2011.

Genesis Health Club tells Wichita police that someone took $4,000 worth of food from the company. It happened at its Rock road location sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday. Police say someone broke a lock to a freezer located behind the business, then took the food.

Local food trucks team up with the Thunder hockey team to raise money for Wichita's tornado victims. Hundreds of people turned out to Sunday's tailgating party at the Wichita Ice Center. Fans were encouraged to bring canned goods which will go to the Red Cross. Local food trucks were at the tailgating party as well. They will donate at least 15% of their profits from the tailgate party to Wichita's United Way. The cans and money will go to those affected by the tornadoes.

Wichita police are called to an aggravated robbery at Church's Chicken Saturday night. Authorities say they were called to the fast food restaurant in the 500 block of North West Street around 10:30pm. Two suspects entered the business. One was armed with a black semi automatic handgun. They made off with an unknown amount of cash. A witness was the one who called police after they saw the robbery in progress. No one was hurt.

Info from Sedgwick County News Release: The Sedgwick County Animal Response Team (SCART) is seeking unopened, unexpired pet food and cat litter donations for the victims of the recent tornado. Donations may be taken to the Skaer Veterinary Clinic at 404 S. Edgemoor and Sedgwick County Animal Control will coordinate pick up. The pet food and other items will be available at the Oaklawn Community Center, 2937 E. Oaklawn Dr. each day at 1 p.m. for one hour. The Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita is still waiving any sheltering costs to house pets of owners affected by the storms who may need boarding assistance.
