Fort Hays State women's basketball will be the No. 6 seed in the MIAA Championship Tournament, March 5-10. With the new 12-team tournament format this year, FHSU will host a first round game on Tuesday (Mar. 5) at Gross Memorial Coliseum against No. 11 seed Lincoln. FHSU just defeated Lincoln in Hays on Friday in the regular season finale. Game time is set for 7 pm on Tuesday. Fort Hays State ended the regular season in a tie for fifth place with Truman, each finishing 12-6 in the MIAA.

With a Washburn win over Central Missouri on Saturday evening in Topeka and a FHSU win over Lincoln on Friday, Fort Hays State earned its first-ever regular season championship in the MIAA, sharing the title with Central Missouri. Both teams finished the conference slate at 13-5. It's the second regular season championship for Fort Hays State under head coach Mark Johnson after winning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular season in 2005-06. As members of the MIAA, Fort Hays State now has a MIAA Tournament title (2010-11)

Washburn, ranked 13th in the nation, escaped Hays with a one-point win on Thursday evening in Hays by a score of 70-69. A pair of free-throws with 19 seconds remaining were the difference for the Ichabods. Washburn moved to 9-2 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA with the win, while Fort Hays State moved to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA. Despite battling foul trouble all throughout the game, the Tigers still found a way to be in the game late. A combined 25 fouls were called on the teams in the first half, 13 on the Tigers and 12 on the Ichabods.

A long-term wind energy project at Fort Hays State University finally becomes reality. Friday FHSU president Dr. Edward Hammond said a contract was signed and work will begin soon to install two wind turbines on campus. Officials say the system will go into operation by June of 2013. The project has been in the works for six years. The university says the turbines will mean energy savings between $600,000 to $1 million a year. The final cost of the project is estimated at $8.8 million to $9 million.

The Fort Hays State women's basketball team moved up one spot in the latest WBCA Division II Top 25 Poll, released on Tuesday. The Lady Tigers are now ranked No. 10 in the nation, cracking the Top 10 for the first time school history. This is the fourth consecutive week the Lady Tigers have been in the rankings. The 9-0 start for Fort Hays State is best in the women's basketball program history. Fort Hays State joins Washburn (6-0) as one of two MIAA schools from the MIAA in the Top 25. Washburn also moved up one spot in the latest poll to No. 6. Pittsburg State is the only other MIAA school currently in the Top 25 at No. 17. Fort Hays State is one of seven teams in the Top 10 that remain unbeaten this year.

Fort Hays State fell by a score of 14-12 to Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays. The Tigers trailed by eight and scored a touchdown with 3:44 remaining, but the two-point conversion failed as the Mules escaped with their seventh-straight win over the Tigers. The Tigers trailed 14-3 at the half with a Drew O'Brien 38-yard field goal as the only scoring they had before the break. O'Brien would bring the Tigers within one score at 14-6 in the third quarter with a 20-yard field goal.

The Fort Hays State women's soccer team scored in double overtime to win the MIAA Championship, 2-1, over No. 1 seed Central Missouri on Sunday (Nov. 4) in Warrenburg, Mo. The Tigers, who are in their second season of soccer, won the first MIAA Champion in women's soccer's short history. With the win, FHSU clinches a spot in the NCAA Tournament, which starts Nov. 9.   For the second straight match, the Tigers scored the golden goal in the 107th minute to win 2-1. This time, junior forward Joanne Glynn hit the game winner after the Jennies miscleared the ball, and Glynn gained possession and hit a shot that went in.   Fort Hays State took an early 1-0 lead less than 2 minutes into the match.

The Tiger football team fell to the 7th-ranked Griffons of Missouri Western by a score of 21-3 in Hays on Saturday evening. It was the third straight ranked opponent for the Tigers, who fell to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA with the loss. Missouri Western moved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the MIAA. Fort Hays State did a much better job of keeping its defense off the field by putting together time-consuming drives in the first quarter. They had the ball for 9:22 in the opening frame of the game to keep the high-powered Griffon offense off the field.

Fort Hays State fell to 0-3 overall and 0-3 in the MIAA with a 48-10 loss at No. 13 Northwest Missouri State on Saturday. The Tigers produced their first points of the first quarter this season, pulling to within four at 7-3 early in the game, but the Bearcats scored 41 unanswered points before the Tigers scored their only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter. The Tigers showed life early by driving the ball inside the Northwest Missouri 10-yardline following a touchdown drive by the Bearcats.

The Fort Hays State men's soccer team jumped into the national rankings after beginning its season 2-0 with a road win at Colorado Christian and a neutral site win against South Dakota School of Mines. The Tigers enter the national rankings for the first time in their young program history at No. 13 in the first regular season poll. The Tigers received votes in the preseason rankings. The Tigers were close to breaking into the rankings in the program's first year of 2011, reaching the receiving votes section, however they never broke into the top 25. Fort Hays State is the top ranked team nationally from the Central Region.
