SurveyUSA interviewed 900 adults from Kansas' 1st Congressional District 08/05/10 through 08/08/10. Of them, 767 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 542 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 11/02/10 general election. 1   Asked of 542 Likely Voters   Margin of Sampling Error for this question = ± 4.1% If the election for U.S. House of Representatives were today, who would you vote for?

The primary's over, and we have almost three months until the general election.      You would think that means we get a break from the political ads.  But, that's not the case for at least one race: the District 4 Congressional Race.      The day after the primary election, we found people would rather brave mother nature's heat, than political heat.      "I was sick of all of it," said Sherrie Wandersee.  "I mean, everybody's attacking everybody else. Mike Pompeo grabbed the lead early on and carried the momentum to the end. “It's exciting to have this group of supporters saying Mike we were here for you for 16 months and we're going to help you for 12 more weeks,” says Pompeo. Hundreds of supporters came out for Pompeo’s watch party. They say they’re ready for the next step. “Super exciting…I can't even begin to tell you how exciting it is,” says supporter Dianne Crawford.

Eyewitness News received several complaints from unaffiliated voters who say they were turned away at polling places. The Secretary of State's office received two complaints from campaigns Tuesday, regarding unaffiliated voters in Sedgwick County. Unaffiliated voters are voters who are not a part of a political party. Some say election workers are saying if voters aren't registered as a Democrat or Republican, they cannot vote in today's primary. That is not true.

KS Senate:  In an election for United States Senator from Kansas today, 10/23/08, 12 days until votes are counted, incumbent Republican Pat Roberts defeats Democrat Jim Slattery 57% to 35%, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KWCH-TV Wichita and KCTV-TV Kansas City. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released one month ago, Roberts is up 2 points; Slattery is flat. During that month, many incumbent Republicans running for statewide office in other states have seen their numbers go down.

Jim Slattery has won the Democratic Primary for the U.S. Senate. With nearly 100% of precincts reporting, Slattery has a 69-31 percent lead over opponent Lee Jones. Slattery gave his acceptance speech around 9:45 pm Tuesday night in Topeka.  Slattery will face Pat Roberts in the General Election this November.

Primary Election - Tuesday, August 5 th General Election - Tuesday, November 4 th Slattery will run again Jones in the primary for the Democratic nomination. The winner runs against Roberts in the general election.  This is a race to watch for many reasons: Unbroken Streak For 76 consecutive years, Kansans have elected only Republicans to serve in the U.S. Senate.
