For What it's Worth---on January 30 -- Does Wichita State deserve a mulligan, or does their alleged performance against Indiana State shed some unflattering light on their deficiencies? Yikes--- I'm not even sure you can go back to Gregg Marshall's first year at Wichita State and find a worse performance. That sounds like I'm taking something away from Indiana State and I'm not, the Sycamores had a great plan and they executed it with confidence. The Sycamores forced the Shockers to defend deep into the shot clock and then they would attack the basket.

For What it's Worth on January 7 -- Ben M cLemore gets the highlights, but Jeff Withey should be getting the high fives from KU fans.   The senior center is averaging  14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks a game.  Those are numbers, should they continue, that will garner him All-American consideration.  His 11 rebounds and 9 blocks had everything to do with Kansas' narrow win over Temple on Sunday.  And what about a...

Wichita State got jobbed last night!  Wow, I'm not sure that makes me feel any better, but as someone who rarely complains about officials - I wanted to see what I've been missing.  The Shockers did get a bad whistle at Tennessee, but it wasn't the only reason they lost.  Gregg Marshall got poor guard play down the stretch in Knoxville, and his team couldn't hit shots.  There were more than a few instances of guys trying to be the hero,...

The last time we saw or mentioned Randall Vautravers, he was picking up minutes here and there playing basketball with the Shockers. But come the summer, he's playing golf with his buddies on some of the toughest courses in the state. But this is just a hobby, right? "I went to Arizona for Christmas and I played a lot of golf over there and it got me playing again," Vautravers said at the Kansas State Amateur tournament at Sand Creek Station golf course in Newton, Tuesday. "I just thought this would be the best thing for me right now. " Vautravers is putting down the basketball and picking up the golf clubs full time now. He made the decision after the Shockers NCAA run and told coach Gregg Marshall during the off season.

Wichita State basketball assistant coach Dana Ford is leaving the Shockers to take an assistant job at Illinois State.  Ford started as a graduate assistant under Gregg Marshall at Winthrop and Wichita State before moving on to Chipola Junior college as an assistant.  He eventually moved to Tennessee State as an assistant to another former Shocker, John Cooper. Ford spent one season with Wichita State as an assistant before making his move.  He was considered a very strong recruiter for the Shockers.
