A man wearing a ski mask and gloves walks in to a gas station pointing a gun at a teller, demanding cash. Police say the woman at the register handed over a small amount of cash. The robber left without hurting anyone.

The Dodge City Police Department responded Thursday afternoon to a call of a man with a handgun at the Dodge City Regional Airport. While officers were en route to the airport they received information that the man was walking away from the airport building with the gun. Utah is about to become the first state to have an official firearm. The Utah Senate has passed a bill declaring the Browning M1911 the Beehive state's official gun. Lawmakers passed the bill on a party line vote with Republicans supporting the legislation and Democrats opposing. During a press conference, Senate President Michael Waddoups read a letter from a seventh grader. The child writes his family "worships guns" and especially likes the M1911 because it is the first weapon used to kill "Nazi zombies" in the video game, "Call of Duty: Black Ops. " The letter closes with the child acknowledging that guns can cause violence when used in a bad way, but guns also show other countries who is the boss.

You can't bring a gun onto a college campus and efforts to change that are at a standstill. The Kansas House is discussing H.B. 2353 or the Personal and Family Protection Act. Part of that bill would have allowed guns on college campuses. Click Here to Read the Bill Wichita State Student President Matthew Onstott is adamant: Bringing guns on campus isn't a good idea. “You give a student a poor grade, they now have a weapon,” Onstott said.

A group of Wichita city officials and business owners is hoping to reverse a city ordinance that lets people openly carry firearms without a permit. The law went into effect Thursday after city officials determined Wichita's ordinance prohibiting open display of a loaded firearm conflicted with state law. The Wichita Eagle reports the City Council approved the new measure earlier this month after Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said the city couldn't ban open carry.

A disagreement over a handgun leads to a fight in Hays. Hays police say officers went to check the report of a disturbance in the 200 blk. of W. 7th on Jan. 31. When officers arrived, they found a pool of blood and a blood trail. Investigators say a man tried to buy a 9mm handgun from another person. A disagreement over the price led to a confrontation. The victim suffered head and facial injuries. Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of aggravated battery and felony possession of a firearm.

A Sumner County jury has convicted a man accused of making and selling drugs and illegal possession of a firearm. John David McConnell, 50, of South Haven, was found guilty of manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug precursors, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana without a drug tax stamp and criminal possession of a firearm. McConnell will return to court Feb. 28 for sentencing.

A Wichita man is out of the hospital after accidentally shooting himself during a gun safety class. According to our news partners at KFDI radio, the 59-year-old man shot himself in the leg at The Bullet Stop on west Pawnee. "The man was practicing an off-handed draw with his firearm when he had his finger on the trigger," said Sgt. Mark Jackson Saturday afternoon. "It discharged and struck him one time in his own leg. " Jackson said the man was practicing with a 9mm pistol.
