High winds cause a semi to roll over in Harvey County.The accident happened Thursday afternoon, just east of Burrton on Highway 50. There were storms moving through the area at the time. A 911 dispatcher says the semi is not blocking traffic and rolled into a ditch. No one was hurt.

The Harvey County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday afternoon charges against a man accused of killing his father. Lamoine Wiebe, 43, is officially charged with First Degree Murder and held in jail on a $750,000 bond. Investigators say, Wiebe shot and killed his 78-year-old father Richard Wiebe. Lamoine Wiebe was arrested in Wichita on unrelated charges over the weekend. Wichita police then alerted Harvey County authorities, asking them to do a welfare check on Wiebe's father. Deputies found Richard Wiebe dead in his camper Sunday.

Authorities discover a meth lab in Harvey County. They were looking for two stolen bobcats on property located at 8700 Burman in Burrton. While investigating the thefts, the lab was discovered in one of the outbuildings. The Harvey County Sheriff's Office, Burrton Fire Department, Newton Fire Department, a Butler County Sheriff's Deputy and a KBI agent help serve warrants and gather evidence from the scene. The bobcats were recovered and two arrests were made. Those people are currently in the Harvey County Jail awaiting formal charges.

Fire crews from several cities and districts work to put out flames in Harvey County. The Harvey Co. emergency manager tells Eyewitness News, three grass fires broke out Wednesday afternoon; one in Hesston, one in Newton and one in Walton. The Walton fire threatened some homes in the area so a unit of firefighters is watching that area, but there are no evacuations. Terry Schwab got a call while he was at work from a neighbor, saying the flames were getting close to his house.

A head-on collision involving two vehicles kills an elderly couple and sends one person to the hospital in critical condition. The accident occurred this morning east of Walton in Harvey County on Highway 50 near mile marker 281. The elderly couple were traveling westbound when they crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound vehicle. The couple was from the Kansas City area. A medical cause has not been confirmed, but several heart pills were found in their vehicle.

The Harvey County Commission has extended a burn ban until Mon., Dec. 13, 2010. Officials say continued dry weather has led to a continued fire danger. --------------- Harvey County's burn ban has been on and off for the last couple of weeks. The latest one was terminated about a week and a half ago but it was reinstated Monday that's because Emergency Management Coordinator Lon Buller says there are such dry conditions this late in the year. Buller says there were several fires over the holiday weekend.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office credits the CALIN Network for the recovery of a stolen backhoe. CALIN stands for Construction, Agriculture, Livestock Information Network. The sheriff's office says the program is designed to get information regarding stolen farm equipment, construction equipment and livestock out as quickly as possible. On November 18, information was posted on the CALIN Network about a backhoe being stolen from Sherwood Construction. The sheriff's office says a resident of Harvey County remembered seeing a backhoe matching the description, and contacted authorities.

Kathryn Dale has pleaded no contest to abuse of a child and aggravated child endangerment. The two felony counts come after the death of her son, Vincent Hill, in March. She's scheduled for sentencing on September 30. Under her plea, some of the charges against her were dropped, but she must testify against Chad Carr. Carr is charged with murder in Hill's death. Carr was bound over for trial. Police say Carr claims he called 911 when her found Hill not breathing in his crib.

A semi driver killed when his truck slammed into a train in Harvey County has been identified as 80-year-old Herbert Entz. The crash happened around 1:30 Tuesday near Highway 196 and Osage. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Entz was carrying a double-trailer when the accident happened. He was headed east on Highway 196 and was struck by the front end fo the train. Eyewitnesses waiting on the opposite side of the tracks as the semi came through say the railroad crossing lights were flashing and the crossbars were down.
