Some rainfall reports for the 24 hour period ending at 7 A.M. Sunday .  Wichita (Mid-Continent Airport) 0.28", Wichita (Jabara Airport - NE Wichita) Trace, Winfield - 0.40", Cambridge - 0.45", Mount Hope - 0.02", Norwich - 0.22", Coffeyville - 0.80", Sedan - 0.84".  Not enough to put a dent in the drought, however anything and everything is a welcome relief. In the wake of this cold front, a high pressure center over Iowa will influence our weather today bringing a return of sunshine and a pleasant afternoon.  Highs will range from the upper 80s in northeast Kansas, to the mid 90s in the south.  Clear skies and light winds across central and eastern Kansas tonight will result in a relatively "cool" start to Monday morning, as overnight lows fall into the low and middle 60s. The "heat" returns Monday afternoon and continues through the week, however the oppressive 100 degree "heat wave" appears to be over for now.  Highs should remain at or below 100 degrees the entire week.

No weather penalties on this Superbowl Sunday.  Sunshine will make a great return, after a cloudy and cold Saturday.  A few clouds are lingering across central and eastern Kansas this morning, however they should give way to sunny skies by afternoon as high pressure builds into Kansas.  This area of high pressure will also keep winds less than 20 m.p.h. statewide.  Highs will still be on the cool side in the 30s (over fresh snowcover) and 40s across the remainder of Kansas. Mostly clear skies and light winds tonight will allow for temperatures to drop into the teens and 20s, which is right around normal for early February.

Our weather won't be changing much through week's end as a sprawling area of high pressure continues to block any storm systems from venturing into the Plains. Our lack of any upper-level storms or fronts means no real rain or thunderstorm chances through this weekend. We can expect partly to mosty cloudy skies this afternoon as highs rise back into the mid-80s to near 90 degrees. The wind should be out of the southeast with the strongest gusts over 30 to 35 mph for western Kansas.

Sunny skies today, "warmer" than yesterday but still chilly.  Temperatures should end up between 35-40 degrees around the state with winds shifting to the west.  High pressure nearby should keep the winds on the lighter side compared to yesterday.  That high pressure, will move to the south tonight and with increasing high clouds and southerly winds temperatures should drop into the teens to near 20. Clouds will be increasing on Sunday ahead...

After seeing rain and thunderstorms over the weekend, quiet weather awaits for the start of the new week. High pressure will settle over the area for Monday, allowing for sunshine and mild temperatures (near 80). Much of the state will see the winds turn back to the south/southwest for Monday, which will help bring back milder air for the state. Another cold front is expected to arrive Tuesday, which will start cooling us down once again for the middle of the week.

It's going to be hot for the next several days as a summertime weather pattern takes control of the atmosphere. High pressure should keep most storms out of our area and allow for warm nights and hot afternoons. Lows tonight will be in the 60s and low 70s with a south breeze. A mostly sunny sky is on tap for Sunday with south winds gusting to 25 or 30 mph during the afternoon. Temperatures will hover around 100 for much of the state. Little if any change is expected early next week.

Monday will be bright, brisk and breezy but there's a warming trend around the bend and our weekend snow will disappear, melting quickly, and be long gone by midweek. Monday, we'll see mostly sunny skies, except over central and eastern Kansas where clouds will be on the increase by afternoon. Gutsy northwesterly winds will make it feel more like 20s through the day but actual afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 30s. Light winds, clear skies and cold temperatures are expected Monday night as Canadian high pressure settles over our area.

A warming trend is just around the corner for Kansas, but you won't notice it Monday as winds will be gusty from the northwest and temperatures will still be several degrees below normal. Look for mostly clear skies overnight with lows in the teens to around 20 for much of the state. Wind chills will be single digits and even sub zero for some through the night with winds staying out of the northwest. Monday will see mostly sunny skies, except in central and eastern Kansas where some clouds will increase for the afternoon.

A few clouds around central and eastern Kansas early this morning, however sunshine should be the general rule of thumb through most of the day across Kansas.  The ample sunshine will have little effect on the frigid air that has settled into Kansas, therefore highs will only reach the 20s to near 30 today.  Northerly winds will also put a bite on the already cold temperatures resulting in wind chills in the single digits and teens most of the...

Another nice day for January.  Sunny skies and light winds will dominate the weather pictures across Kansas today as high pressure moves across the state.  Highs will reach the 40s in areas that still have snow on the ground, elsewhere expect upper 40s and lower 50s.  Mostly clear and cold tonight with temperatures dropping into the 20s by the time you head out the door for work on Monday. More wind and warmth are on tap to start the work week with highs in the 40s and low 50s.  The January "thaw" continues across the state through the upcoming week.
