A few thunderstorms are still possible along and to the east of Wichita this evening.  A strong to severe storm is possible, with some hail up to quarter size and winds up to 60 mph possible east of the Turnpike.  Some other areas of rain showers are possible in the west overnight as lows drop to the 40s. Look for a breezy and much cooler day on Friday.  Clouds will break up in the west while remaining stubborn over eastern Kansas.  Highs...

After a cloudy start to the week, sunshine will be back for Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure settles over the region. Clouds will hang around overnight in southern Kansas, but there should be some clearing in northern Kansas late. Lows will be dropping into the upper 30s in the northwest overnight, but should stay in the upper 40s in southcentral Kansas. Sunshine will be back for Tuesday with highs warming up into the low 70s. The winds will stay under 15 mph from the north.

The weather won't change much in the coming days as high pressure continues to block widespread rain from forming in our area. Temperatures will again be in the 60s overnight with mostly clear skies and light southeast winds. Expect some increase in clouds for Wednesday with highs between 85-90 for the afternoon. The wind is expected to be out of the southeast with some gusts getting up to 30 or 35 mph for western Kansas. Scattered storms are possible in eastern Colorado and NW Oklahoma, but they will likely stay out of Kansas.

Skies will turn mostly clear overnight with lows in the 60s west and 70s east. Another roast-fest is on the way for Sunday with most spots in Kansas touching the century mark.  Plenty of sunshine is forecast, along with gusty winds in the west.  That'll lead to a higher fire danger during the afternoon. A weak weather system will move across Texas through Monday, which should bring just a few more clouds into the picture.  It may also take temperatures down a degree or two Monday afternoon.  Even so, we'll be very close to triples again in Wichita.  After that, a big area of upper level high pressure camp out over the Plains for the rest of the work week .  That means plenty of sunshine and heat as temperatures reside near or slightly above the century mark.

We still don't see much change in the weather this week, so the hot weather will be sticking around. Scattered storms developing over Colorado will have a chance to move into parts of Kansas, but the activity is expected to be sparse. Lows tonight will mainly be in the 70s, with some upper 60s in the northwest. The highest likelihood for scattered storms will be over northern Kansas. Tuesday looks hot with highs back above 100, except in far western and northern Kansas where highs may stay in the upper 90s. Skies will be turning mostly sunny for the afternoon with light winds around the area.

Clouds and spotty sprinkles or showers out there on this Thursday afternoon will slowly thin out leaving behind mostly sunny skies. Another hot day is on the way with highs back above 100 for most areas except over the northwest where highs will only be in the mid-90s. More storms may develop Thursday night in southern Kansas but most of the area will be dry into Friday. An approaching cold front Saturday will bring better storm chances back to our area this weekend, especially Saturday.
