Wichita police find a 7-month-old boy alone in home on the 9000 block of West Meadow Park Court. Police received an anonymous tip Friday evening that the infant was unattended. Officers entered the home through an unlocked door, and found the child awake in a crib. A man and woman returned to the home a couple hours later while police were still on the premises. They were arrested on aggravated child endangerment charges. "This is a very unusual case," says Sgt. Steve Yarberry of the Wichita Police Department.

A two-month-old is in the hospital after being burned early Wednesday. It happened around two o'clock in the morning in the 2600 block of E. Grail. Police say the burns covered around 20 to 30 percent of the child's body. Investigators say the situation is suspicious, but they are still trying to figure out what happened. The child was taken to Via Christi on St. Francis and is in stable condition.

A Hutchinson man is accused of sodomizing a three month old child. 25-year-old Michael Sherman was charged with aggravated sodomy in Reno County Tuesday. According to The Hutchinson News , police say Sherman told them he was watching pornography when the crime occurred. Sherman could face life in prison. His bond is set at $50,000.

A man found guilty of first degree murder and aggravated battery is sentenced to more than 34 years in prison. DeWhite Cameron was convicted in May of beating twin boys, one of them fatally. Emergency crews were called to their home on North Erie in Wichita in 2008 and found the twin two-year-old boys. Damion Thomas was unconscious and not breathing and died a short time later. The autopsy showed he died of blunt force trauma to his head and torso. His twin brother, Trayvion, was hospitalized.

A 4-month-old Wichita boy is in protective custody because he has bruises on his body.  He was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening. Once doctors say the infant, they found bruises on his arms, legs and head.  His 30-year-old father and 33-year-old mother are being questioned by investigators with the Exploited and Missing Children's Unit.

A daycare facility in Hays has its license suspended after an infant was found unresponsive on August 7.  According to emergency order of suspension, Michelle M. Sarver, who operates a daycare home on Virginia Drive, put an eight-week old infant down for a nap on a bed, propped up by pillows and blankets. The infant was left unattended for about a half-hour.  According to the report, Sarver checked on the baby and found it on its stomach, unresponsive.  She called 911 and performed CPR. The baby was rushed to the hospital and is unable to breathe on its own.  The child died over the weekend in a Wichita Hospital.

A Wichita four-month-old child is in protective custody after being found in a home with bed bugs.  Someone called police asking for a welfare check on the infant near 9th and West Street. When police arrived, the officer discovered what they called deplorable living conditions. The baby was also suffering from flu like symptoms. The baby was taken to the hospital to be checked out and then was taken to the Wichita Children's Home. The mother of the child was taken in for questioning.

For the second time in less than a week a bullet enters the room where a child is sleeping. Saturday night a nine-month-old was sleeping in the Garden Pines Apartments when a bullet struck his bed. Matt Hauk says he was upstairs in his apartment when he heard the gunshot. "I knew what the sound was kind of like a loud firework but it has a little different tone to it," he said. A woman who lives in the apartments told police she saw a man get out of the car and fire a gun. The shot went through her window and struck the bed where her nine month old boy was sleeping.

An infant from Texas is killed when the S-U-V she was riding in rolled over. The accident happened yesterday afternoon in Sumner County on highway 177 south of South Haven. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the infant was not properly restrained when the crash happened. A 6-year-old - who was properly restrained - was also hurt and taken to a Wichita hospital.

Justin Edwards is charged in the death of an El Dorado infant. Prosecutors charged Edwards with first degree murder on Wednesday for the death of 18-month old Jayla Reed.    Reed's mother, Alyssa Haag, is also charged with first degree murder in her daughter's death.   El Dorado police say the mother's story was inconsistent with the child's injuries...when they were called in to investigate.  Haag and Edwards are both due back...

Wichita police investigating the death of a baby take a three-year-old boy into protective custody. Police were called to a home in the 4800 block of S. Minnesota Monday after a four to five-month-old child died. Police say a 24-year-old man said he took a nap while holding the baby, and that the child was dead when he woke up. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. While investigating, police found unsanitary conditions in the home and decided to take a three-year-old who lives in the home into protective custody.

A fire causes significant damage to a south Wichita home overnight. Crews were called to the 1200 block of West Greenfield around 11:30 Tuesday night near Pawnee and Seneca. Firefighters found a fire on the back deck and coming out of the home's attic. Click here for photos from the scene Wichita Fire Department Battalion Chief Ernie Schuler says two adults were smoking on the back porch about five o'clock Tuesday night and did not discard their cigarettes properly.

Update: October 24, 2011 A Salina mother made her first in-person court appearance Monday, in the death of her 14-month-old son Clayden Urbanek. Our news partners at The Salina Journal report, attorneys for Brittney Betzold, 19 and co-defendant Antonio Brown, 27 agreed to schedule a joint preliminary hearing in the case.  That hearing will be schedule at their next court appearance on December 12th. Betzold and Brown are both charged with felony murder. Clayden Urbanek died on October 4. -------------------- Original Story: October 20, 2011 A Salina mother accused of killing her 14-month-old son was formally charged in court Thursday.  Brittney Betzold was charged with felony murder murder, aggravated endangerment of a child, child abuse and obstruction of justice.

A couple charged in the death of a Salina toddler appear in court.  19-year-old Brittney Betzold and her boyfriend 27-year-old Antonio Brown were in court for a preliminary hearing.  They are charged with first-degree-murder in last year's death of Betzold's 14-month old son Clayden Urbanek. The judge spent much of the day hearing about Clayden's injuries.  Trauma manager Rachelle Giroux works at Salina Regional Medical Hospital.  She says Clayden was in grave condition when he was brought in by paramedics in October of 2011.
