Police are investigating an unattended death in southeast Wichita. Officers responded to the scene in the 600 block of S. Woodlawn around 3 p.m. Saturday. A neighbor called police, concerned about the man's welfare. The 64-year-old man was pronounced dead inside his apartment. Police did find blood near his body, but it is unknown how the man died. Investigators said the man may have been dead for at least one day. The investigation is ungoing, no arrests have been made. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

The Buhler community finally has the results from a cancer investigation. After months of analyzing data, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment released its findings. Certain types of cancer in and around Buhler are not higher than average. For months now, the talk in the small community of Buhler around the tables at the Mustard Seed Coffee Shop has been about cancer. "Probably every day, every table was talking about once or twice," Blanca Kaufman of Mustard Seed Coffee Shop said.

Wichita police arrest five people while investigating a neighborhood drug complaint.  It happened in the 600 block of N. Topeka late Wednesday. Police say the SWAT Team was used to issue a search warrant at the apartment because it was considered a high risk situation. When officers made entry into the home, they found fifteen people as well as several things that were illegal. "Once officers were able to get inside the residence," said WPD Spokesperson Lt. Doug Nolte, "there were several things which were identified as being illegal including some weapons and drugs.

Update: Joel Heil has been formally charged with first degree murder in the death of Kristin Tyler.  Heil made his first appearance in Saline County Court Monday morning. Eyewitness News Reporter Sam Anderson was there, she says court documents accuse Heil of killing Tyler between April 25 and 26.  His bond was set at one million dollars. --------- Original coverage - May 10th, 2013 Police in Salina say other arrests could come in connection with the death of Kristin Tyler.  Her body was found Thursday afternoon in Saline County.

A mother wrapped her arms tight around her daughter after she was kidnapped and held against her will for more than half an hour. James Johnson's daughter and another girl managed to get away. "It was terrifying but I calmed her down," Johnson said. "As long as she's safe, we're going skating and going to try to get past this and I'm going to deal with the rest. " The girls were headed home from a gas station near Edgemoor and Harry when the suspect approached them. "They just got hungry and figured they'd walk to Quik Trip in a group and figured they would be safe," he said.

The Kansas Attorney General's office has released the name of the woman killed in Colby over the weekend. She was 27-year old Teri Morris. Her body was found inside a burning home Saturday morning.   The AG's office says an individual has been taken into custody for Morris' death.  The AG's office says the investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time. Information about the case has been very limited.  Eyewitness News has contacted the Colby Police Chief, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Attorney General's office to try and learn more.

UPDATE: Reno County authorities have arrested a Hutchinson man in connection to an animal cruelty case. The sheriff's department said Aaron Niblack, 32, was taken into custody around 3 p.m. Saturday. He was booked in connection to a case where three dogs were left abandoned in a kennel along a dirt road in Reno County. Officials said he also faces charges of interfering with law enforcement. The Reno County Sheriff's office said the investigation continues and more arrests may be made.

  CBS has unveiled its new 2013-2014 schedule, featuring eight new series. Five of the new series will premiere in the fall and three at mid-season. CBS will finish the current season as the top-rated network in viewers for the 10 th time in 11 seasons, #1 in the adults 25-54 demographic and #1 in adults 18-49 for the first time since the 1991-1992 season. For next fall, the Network is increasing its comedy lineup with four new comedies, expanding its comedy block on Thursdays from 7-9 PM and creating an encore hour for comedy broadcasts on Saturdays.

A Winfield High School teacher is on administrative leave. The Cowley County Attorney is investigating accusations of improper sexual contact with students. Winfield's Superintendent J.K. Campbell confirms they placed a teacher on paid administrative leave while the matter is under investigation, but did not offer any more information about what happened. No one has seen him in more than a decade, but it's only been a year since authorities have known about the disappearance of Adam Herrman. Herrman was eleven years old when he was last seen in 1999. Last December, his sister contacted SRS concerned that she couldn't find her brother. That's when authorities started searching the areas where Herrman once lived with his adoptive parents. They put out his picture all over the country and interviewed dozens of potential witnesses. Although the case is no longer making daily headlines, those involved say work is constantly being done to find out what happened to Herrman.
