For What it's Worth on this January 28 -- Thirteen teams in front of Wichita State lost seventeen times last week, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of bump they get in the national polls today. My guess is that they'll come in at #15 - the Shocks have two good RPI tests this week at home with Indiana State(55) on Tuesday and on the road with UNI(96) Saturday. Blood in the water--- Bradley Coach Geno Ford on WSU: “What Wichita State does better than any team in our league - is when they smell blood in the water-- they take it to another level of energy.” The Shockers might have just as well been vampires over the last 23 minutes against the Braves; some of their best extended minutes of the season.

Sam Richardson, who had not even attempted a pass all year, threw for 250 yards and four touchdowns Saturday night, sparking Iowa State past Kansas 51-23 and handing the Jayhawks their 20th consecutive Big 12 loss. Richardson led the Cyclones (6-5 overall, 3-5 Big 12) to touchdowns on four straight possessions in the second quarter while taking a 38-17 lead. The redshirt freshman, virtually overlooked all year in the Cyclones' jumbled quarterback picture, had previously seen only mop-up duty in one game.

This is the first matchup between the Wildcats and Cyclones in Ames since 2007, which happens to be the last time that Iowa St. beat KSU. Sure, the 'Cats may have won four straight in this series, but they've won those game by an average margin of six points. Another close game is expected on Saturday, especially since the game is expected to be played in heavy rain. A soggy field would seem to benefit K-State which boasts the 9 th best rushing attack in the country, but Iowa State wants to run the ball as well. Interestingly, the game features two of the stingiest scoring defenses in the Big 12. The Cyclones will need it, as the Wildcats come in as the nation's 11 th highest scoring team, throw in a clear advantage in the kicking game and you've got a 6 ½ point favorite on the road.

At halftime, the commentators said Collin Klein isn't flashy but with what he's done this year there's no way you can keep him out of the Heisman race. Today's game against Iowa State was no different for the senior quarterback. He didn't wow you with his speed or his technique but Klein simply got things done for the Wildcats. Klein finished the day with 111 yards on 24 carries with 3 touchdowns in Kansas State's 27 to 21 win over...

New Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby views the league as healthy and stable, with its 10 members committed to each other. Now he's trying to get everyone else to see it that way too. Bowlsby says one of the Big 12's biggest immediate challenges is in changing public perceptions of the league. Many of those who saw the league brought to the brink of extinction more than once still look at it as a shaky alliance of disjointed institutions. Bowlsby acknowledged during a visit to Iowa State that even he was skeptical of how dedicated the Big 12's members were to each other.

Kansas State was abysmal from beyond the arc making just 3 of their 16 attempts. They were also just 10-18 from the free throw line.
