For the first time, the teacher will meet the student. Former K-State head coach and current West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins and his Mountaineers will battle K-State and Frank Martin, Thursday night at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita. Martin was an assistant to Huggins when he was the head coach of K-State in 2006-07. K-State (5-0) comes in looking for a marquee win of the season, having beaten Virginia Tech, their only BCS Conference win, 69-61. Martin won his 100th game against the Hokies.

by Bryan Holmgren TEXAS A&M 63, KANSAS STATE 60 Sorry for the slow update. I figured I might do a sportscast or something. Michael Beasley is something else, but the Wildcats could really use someone else to step up. Sure, Bill Walker was okay, scoring 10 points, though he missed all six of his three-point attempts. If just one of those goes down - by my math - it's a little different finish. K-State was down five at the half and stayed down for most of the second.

What a day, what a day. Gamedays always are. No matter the time of day or how long the individual game takes, the days are never short. Never fails. A courtside seat was awaiting me behind the Syracuse bench for K-State's game with the Orange. I would be sitting next to a coaching legend in Jim Boeheim and his impressive squad. I just wish I could have been sitting on the other side next to the Wildcats bench. Boeheim is quiet as a mouse on the sidelines; Frank Martin is the loudest man in the room.

Seniors Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly, the two top scorers for No. 11 Kansas State, were ordered benched by the NCAA just before the Wildcats' game against UNLV on Tuesday night. Kansas State said Pullen - a preseason All-American and four-year starting guard - would have to miss three games and it was not yet determined how long Kelly would be out. In a statement, the school said they were being punished for receiving impermissible benefits on the purchase of clothing at a local department store.

Great news today for the Kansas State Wildcats: Senior Guard Jacob Pullen has been cleared to play. In a statement released by the school, doctors say further examination showed a bruised, not broken, right hand. They added the injury will not cause him to miss any practice or playing time. Pullen was driving for a layup with 6 minutes left in the game against Texas when he fell hard on his right wrist. He was writhing in pain on the court for a couple of minutes before walking to the bench.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Jacob Pullen watches film by the hour and studies game plans as if he were boning up for final exams. Sometimes he spots important things about Kansas State's upcoming opponent even before the coaches. Last week the junior guard noticed BYU's top scorer liked to use a crossover dribble in certain situations. Armed with that knowledge, he helped keep Jimmer Fredette in check. Pullen also scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Wildcats to an 84-72 victory and into the round of 16, where they'll meet Xavier on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.
