The Wichita Wingnuts lost 8-7 to the Amarillo Sox at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium on Sunday evening. Trailing 7-4 in the bottom of the ninth, a single and two walks loaded the bases with one out for the Sox. Chris Nash hit a bloop single to left that made it 7-5. Tim Alberts followed with a game-ending three-run double to right-center field off of Cephas Howard that prevented the Wingnuts from completing a four-game sweep to start the season....

The Wichita Wingnuts beat the El Paso Diablos 9-8 in 15 innings in the completion of Friday night's suspended game at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 15th, Jeff Stevens snapped an 8-8 tie with a drive to deep left-center field that landed past a drawn in Diablos' outfield. The Wingnuts entered the frame trailing 8-7, but Ryan Patterson led off with a home run to left field against El Paso righty Alfredo Caballero.  Caballero issued walks to Jorge Cortes, Jorge Delgado, and Josh Workman to set up Stevens' game-winning hit. El Paso had taken the lead in the top of the 15th when Arnoldo Ponce was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded by Cephas Howard.

The Wichita Wingnuts beat the Sioux City Explorers 5-2 in their final exhibition game at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Tuesday night. Junior Guerra pitched five shutout innings to earn the win while Josh Workman and Juan Richardson each homered to support the offense. Wichita took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Josh Horn chopped a single up the middle to lead off the frame and scored one batter later when Ryan Patterson doubled to the fence in left-center.  Patterson advanced to third on a grounout and came home on an RBI groundout by Richardson.

The Wichita Wingnuts lost 11-4 to the Gary SouthShore RailCats at US Steel Yard on Wednesday afternoon. The RailCats scored five early runs to distance themselves from the Wingnuts and take two of three in the series. With first and third and one out in the bottom of the first, Cristian Guerrero singled on a soft groundball through the left side to give the RailCats a 1-0 lead.  After Jeff Beauchum singled to load the bases, Kyle Haines hit a line drive single down the right field line that made it 2-0. The RailCats scored three more times in the second.  Guerrero drew a bases loaded walk with one out and was followed by an RBI single through the left side from Beauchum.  Kyle Haines made it 5-0 with a sacrifice fly to right.

The Wichita Wingnuts shutout the Sioux City Explorers 4-0 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Saturday night. Wingnuts' starter Justin Murray pitched eight-plus shutout innings to earn his second win of the season, scattering nine hits and never allowing a runner past second base. The Wingnuts broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third. After Explorers' starter Nick Schumacher retired the first two hitters of the inning on two pitches, rookie catcher Matthew Powell singled to right field in his first career at bat. On the next pitch, Josh Horn doubled to left-center field to score Powell from first and give the Wingnuts a 1-0 lead.

The Wichita Wingnuts won 7-1 over the Lincoln Saltdogs in the rubber game of their series at Haymarket Park on Sunday evening. Nick Singleton improved to 5-0 with eight innings of one-run ball. Singleton retired 23 of the final 26 batters he faced, striking out eight, walking one, and scattering five hits. Singleton needed only 97 pitches to get through eight innings. Leading 2-1, the Wingnuts scored five times in the top of the ninth to break the game open. Edwin Bellorin led off with a walk and went to third on Mike Conroy's hit-and-run single through the right side.

Wichita set a new team record for runs in a single game for the second time in nine days, and for a third time in 10 games this season, all nine of the Wingnuts starters collected at least one hit. The Wingnuts scored five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead and never looked back. Juan Richardson was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a walk to Jorge Delgado.

The Wichita Wingnuts lost 8-5 to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Thursday night. All nine of the Wingnuts' starters had at least one hit, with the team combining for 18 in the loss.  Wichita had an early 1-0 lead, but Lincoln scored four in the second and three in the fourth to take command of the game. Jeff Howell led off the top of the second with a triple against Wingnuts' starter Justin Murray and came home when Brandon Jones grounded a single through the middle of a drawn in infield.  After Jones advanced to second on a passed ball, Joseph Ramos doubled on a deep flyball to the warning track in right-center to give Lincoln a 2-1 lead.  Vance Albitz reached on an error when his line drive to second went off of Jose Duran's glove and into right field.  Blake Gailen and Gavin Dickey extended the rally with back-to-back RBI singles to make it 4-1. Ramos reached on an error charged to Brent Clevlen leading off the fourth.  After Albitz walked, Gailen singled through the middle for a second time in the game to drive in Lincoln's fifth run.  Dickey singled to right to load the bases, setting up a two-run single to left from Phil Hawke that broke the game open at 7-1. The Wichita Wingnuts lost 6-3 to the Kansas City T-Bones at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Saturday night. The T-Bones pushed across two unearned runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and ultimately held on for the win. After Ray Sadler drew a leadoff walk, Jonathan Jaspe dragged a sacrifice bunt attempt up the first base line. Jorge Delgado's throw hit Jaspe in the back, and although Thomas Fitzgerald was able to barehand the ball in mid-air with his foot on the bag, Jaspe was ruled safe.

The Wichita Wingnuts won their fourth game in a row on Monday night, beating the Gary SouthShore RailCats 6-5 at US Steel Yard. Jorge Cortes hit two home runs and drove in four, while Nick Singleton improved to 4-0 with six strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Josh Dew recorded a four-out save to preserve the win, escaping jams in both the eighth and ninth innings. With the Wingnuts leading 6-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Dew came on with first and second and two outs. After Dew walked Toddric Johnson to load the bases, the Wingnuts' closer came back and retired Mike Rohde on a popup into short right that was caught by second baseman Evan Button.
