Kansas State coach Bill Snyder says he isn't happy about having to come to Miami this weekend. The Wildcats' scheduling history offers some hints why. This is only the ninth time in the last 16 seasons that Kansas State is hitting the road for a September nonconference game. And the Hurricanes figure to provide Kansas State with a considerably tougher test than Eastern Kentucky and Kent State did for the first two games of the Wildcats' season. Miami is coming off a 24-6 win over Ohio State and looking its first two-game winning streak since October.

Kansas State looks to win for the eighth time in ten starts on Saturday when they host Texas A&M.  A football team never wants to measure progress while losing, but the 'Cats may have gained in national perception after their 52-45 loss at 3 rd ranked Oklahoma St. last weekend. Despite the loss KSU remained 14 th in the BCS poll and with a win over A&M they would set themselves up for a nice payday come bowl season. Headed to the SEC next year, Texas A&M's exit strategy hasn't been particularly graceful.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Kansas State men's basketball coach Bruce Weber hired Chris Lowery, who worked for him at Southern Illinois, as an assistant. Lowery was 145-116 in eight seasons as head coach of Southern Illinois, where he was fired last month. “I'm really excited about Chris joining the coaching staff,” said Weber.  “He has been with me at both Southern Illinois and Illinois as an assistant coach and we have a great relationship, which is critical in building a staff.  He is an outstanding recruiter with great ties to the Midwest and will be a huge asset in helping us to establish a great recruiting base.  He also has the added experience of being a head coach for eight years at SIU, which is only going to help me on the bench.  I look forward to K-State Nation getting to know Chris and his family.” Kansas State said Thursday that contract details are being finalized, but he'll earn a base salary of $210,000 for 2012-13.
