Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber announced the signing of his first recruit on Friday, as Darrell Johnson (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) signed a National Letter of Intent with the Wildcats. "I'm excited to get a recruit of Darrell's quality this late in the signing period," said Weber. "He is a player that we have watched for some time and we feel will be a great fit for our team at the power forward spot. He has tremendous physical gifts, including the ability to defend the rim and be a really good shot blocker.

If there's an easy touch in the Big 12 it has to be Texas Tech playing on the road. The Red Raiders have lost ten straight and are pretty bad in head coach Billy Gillespie's first year. None of which should be too comforting forK-State as they host the Raiders tonight. Frank Martin knows that his club isn't good enough to let up against anyone, in fact - gaining consistency is job one for the Top Cat. The Cat's have won five of the last six meetings between the two, including a 22-point blowout in Lubbock two weeks ago. The Wildcats are coming off a nice win over Texas A&M where Will Spradling broke out of a nine game slump. The Sophomore had been shooting just over 24 percent through nine conference games, before erupting for a career high 19 points against the Aggies.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -Just about everyone is back for Kansas State this season but the coach. Frank Martin is gone to South Carolina, and former Illinois coach Bruce Weber has taken over. So far, so good. He says he has successfully "re-recruited" 12 lettermen, including six who started 10 games or more for the Wildcats in 2011. Seniors Rodney McGruder, Jordan Henriquez and Martavious Irving all have considerable experience, and other players have logged meaningful minutes.

No one in the locker room wanted to harp on Oklahoma State too much. The K-State players wanted to talk about either Baylor or the Cowboys, it really didn't matter they said. Just another game, another time on the schedule, another chance to prove that the Wildcats are the best team in the Big 12. But when the prospect of playing Oklahoma State came up against playing Baylor in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament, Oklahoma State was on their minds. It's the game they wanted. Unlike KU and Iowa State, which goes off Friday before K-State tangles with Oklahoma State, these two teams split during the regular season and cost K-State an outright win of the Big 12 regular season title.
