A 25-year-old Kansas City Chiefs player fatally shot his girlfriend early Saturday, then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in front of two team officials. Police say the first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue.That's where the player killed his girlfriend. The second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility. Police say that before turning the gun on himself, the player thanked Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel for all they had done for him. Police have not yet named the player.

A second-round draft pick from Alabama in 2010, Arenas played 47 games in three seasons with the Chiefs, including 12 starts. Despite a 2-13 record heading to the final week, five Kansas City Chiefs were named to the Pro Bowl roster today. Running Back Jamaal Charles made the list along with linebackers Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali and safety Eric Berry. Punter Dustin Colquitt was also named.
