Kyle Orton will start at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday unless an injured finger on his throwing hand prevents him from playing. Interim coach Romeo Crennel said Wednesday that he made the change in an effort to jumpstart the offense. Journeyman quarterback Tyler Palko had led the Chiefs to only two touchdowns in four games since taking over for the injured Matt Cassel. Crennel said that if Orton is unable to go, fifth-round draft pick Ricky Stanzi will start for Kansas City.

Mark Sanchez threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more scores as the New York Jets kept pace in the AFC playoff race by cruising to a 37-10 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Jets, plagued by slow starts all season, got things started quickly in this one by scoring 28 points in the first half and were helped by an inept Chiefs offense that managed 4 total yards in the first two quarters. Shonn Greene had a season-high 129 yards rushing and a score, and Santonio Holmes and LaDainian Tomlinson each caught touchdown passes for the Jets (8-5)

Poked, prodded and asked about his starting quarterback just about every way possible, Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley had the same answer every time: Tyler Palko is the guy. That doesn't mean Kyle Orton won't get the majority of the snaps Sunday at Chicago. Haley said before practice Wednesday that Palko would get about 60 percent of the repetitions with the first-team offense this week. Orton, who was claimed off waivers from Denver a week ago, will get the remaining 40 percent as he tries to learn the playbook and his new teammates.

Tim Tebow hit Eric Decker on a 56-yard touchdown pass, one of his only two completions in the game, helping the Denver Broncos to a 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Denver (4-5) played almost the entire game without leading rushers Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno. McGahee hurt his hamstring and Moreno went down with a knee injury in the first quarter. It didn't matter against the struggling Chiefs. Lance Ball ran for 96 yards and Tebow added 44 yards and a touchdown on the ground, helping the Broncos win for the third time in four games with the former Heisman Trophy winner under center.

Denver Broncos put together their second consecutive AFC West victory on the road Sunday afternoon, beating the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10. Denver (4-5) played almost the entire game without leading rushers Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno. McGahee hurt his hamstring and Moreno went down with a knee injury in the first quarter. With the running talents of QB Tim Tebow leading the way, the Broncos did everything they could to not throw the ball against the Chiefs. Tebow completed only two passes in the game, although the second was a 56-yard touchdown throw to WR Eric Decker in the fourth quarter.

Matt Moore threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns, Reggie Bush had 92 yards rushing and another score and the Miami Dolphins won their first game of the season in a big way, 31-3 over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Moore, who took over after Chad Henne had season-ending shoulder surgery, became the first Dolphins quarterback since Chad Pennington in 2008 to throw three TD passes. Two of them went to tight end Anthony Fasano and another to Brandon Marshall, who finished with eight catches for 106 yards.

Nobody gave Kendrick Lewis much thought when the Kansas City Chiefs made him their fifth-round draft pick last year. He wasn't even the best player out of Ole Miss to be selected by the Chiefs - they also picked versatile running back Dexter McCluster in the early rounds. But Scott Pioli saw something in Lewis on video, so the Chiefs' general manager called in to make Lewis the 136th overall pick. Now, plenty of teams are forced to give Lewis a whole lot of thought. The second-year safety has assumed a much bigger role with the Chiefs, who lost Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry to a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the season.

Kendrick Lewis and Brandon Flowers returned interceptions for touchdowns and the Kansas City Chiefs took advantage of rusty quarterback play from Kyle Boller and Carson Palmer to beat the Oakland Raiders 28-0 on Sunday. Boller became the first Raiders quarterback in 13 years to throw three interceptions in the first half, including Lewis' 59-yard score on the first drive of the game for Oakland (4-3). Palmer relieved in the second half and threw three more interceptions, including one that Flowers returned 58 yards to give the Chiefs a 28-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Eric Weddle intercepted Matt Cassel at midfield with 55 seconds left to preserve the San Diego Chargers' 20-17 victory over the winless Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Kansas City got the ball back at its 33 with 1:26 left after Philip Rivers was stuffed on fourth-and-1 at the Chiefs 34. Out of timeouts and hoping for a huge upset, Cassel threw for 24 yards to Leonard Pope to get into Chargers territory. On the next play, Cassel, under pressure and backpedaling, threw the ball right to the blitzing Weddle, who signed a $40 million contract in the offseason.

DETROIT (AP) - Matthew Stafford threw two of his four touchdown passes to Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions routed the Kansas City Chiefs 48-3 Sunday, the largest margin of victory in franchise history. Detroit broke its record set with a 44-0 win over the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995. The Lions (2-0) led Kansas City 20-3 at halftime and 41-3 early in the fourth quarter after turning two fumbles into TDs. The Chiefs (0-2) lost more than just the game, coming off a 34-point loss at home to Buffalo.
