The Royals pick with their head and their heart. Gardner, Kansas local Bubba Starling was picked by the Kansas City Royals as the fifth overall pick in the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. Starling is considered the top overall high school athlete in Kansas. He has a football and baseball scholarship waiting for him at Nebraska and is undecided what he will do. With the ability to throw in the low 90's on the mound, Starling would likely play centerfield with his high batting average and speed on the basepath.
