A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper is dead after an accident along US 50 near Emporia. According to the KHP crash log, 17-year-old Gumaro Reyes was driving a Dodge Durango that pulled out in front of Trooper Beau Wallace's motorcycle. Wallace was 30 years old.  He was off-duty at the time of the crash. Reyes was not seriously hurt.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is warning drivers to be aware of an imposter.  Emergency officials tell us someone is pretending to be a KHP trooper. Officials tell us the impersonator pulled over a driver on K-42 in Kingman County.  The suspect handcuffed the driver, searched the car and stole a pocket knife.   He never gave a reason for the stop. He was wearing a dark navy uniform, but didn't give his name or badge number. Troopers tell us they will always have a badge of office on their shirt along with a nametag.

Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a deadly accident in Pratt County. The accident happened Monday evening around five o'clock on K-61 west of Preston. The accident involved a semi and a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was killed at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

A man the Kansas Highway Patrol says was fleeing from police was hurt in a crash in southwest Kansas. The accident happened just before 10:00 Tuesday night in Stevens County near the intersection of C Road and 26 Road. That location is about 10 miles west of Liberal. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a 56-year-old man from Liberal was fleeing from police and driving west on C Road when his truck rolled. He was taken to a hospital with injuries. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt.

33 year-old Nicholas Lindly of Atlanta was killed this morning when the semi-trailer truck he was driving crashed according to Kansas Highway Patrol. The accident happened three miles south of Leon in Butler County. Kansas Highway Patrol officials say Lindly was driving northbound on Cole Creek Road when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned in the ditch. The tanker Lindly was hauling contained liquid fertilizer.

A motorcycle rider dies when he loses control on a road east of Minneapolis, Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after 6:30 Sunday evening on 13th Road, south of K-106 in Ottawa County. That location is east of Minneapolis. Investigators say 57-year-old Lloyd Carriker was northbound on 135th, when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road. Carriker's motorcycle collided with an embankment and a tree row. Carriker died at the scene.

One person has died in a tanker truck explosion in Rice County. It happened on Kansas Highway 56 and 31st Road around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Clinton Koehn of McPherson died when his truck went off the roadway, hit a concrete culvert, overturned and caught fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers closed the highway to the McPherson County line while crews cleared the scene. We spoke with Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Gary Warner on Wednesday morning.  He says they don't know why the truck left the roadway.

Emergency crews respond to an accident Sunday afternoon on K-254 at the Hillside exit in Wichita. Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol say a vehicle East-bound on the highway left the road for an unknown reason, over corrected, then crossed the median.  The car then went into the West-bound lanes into the path of a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle tried to stop, but tipped over, and skidded to a stop.  The car overturned once. The male driver and female passenger of the motorcycle were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.  Both are in their 40's.

An 18-year-old Udall man is dead after a crash on K-55 Monday evening.  The crash happened around two miles west of Udall in Sumner County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Devan Allen Rueger was headed west when his vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch and rolled. Rueger was pronounced dead later that evening. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A second child has died after a rollover accident in Pratt county this week. It happened on K-61 highway around 10:20 a.m. Monday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Ginny Coates, 27, of Turon, was driving north, when she lost control of her SUV. The vehicle went off the road, then back across the highway. The SUV rolled three times and came to rest on its wheels on the right ditch. Coates was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released. A passenger, 6-year-old Jessica Coates, was also treated and released.

A Concordia woman remains hospitalized after colliding with a semi truck in northern Kansas. It happened on U-81 and 18th St. in Belleville around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Elizabeth Taylor, 50, was driving north in the turning lane of U.S. 81 when she made a right turn onto 18th in front of the semi. Taylor was taken to a Wichita hospital where she is listed in critical condition. A 2-year-old passenger was not hurt. The driver of the semi, Kenneth Quick, Geneva, Nebraska, was not hurt.

As part of Peace Officer Memorial day, Salina held a special ceremony at Jerry Ivey Park for the state's fallen officers. They honored 15 officers with the Salina Police Department, Sheriff's Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol. They read a roll call of all of the men who lost their lives in the line of duty, as well as playing TAPS and holding a gun salute. Among those honored was Jerry Ivey, the man whom the park was named after. He died in 1975 after being shot to death at an armed robbery.

Two men are recovering from injuries after a wrong-way crash closed a portion of Kellogg overnight. It happened on U.S. 54, just west of Oliver, around 1 a.m. Saturday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Dennis Haynes, Jr., 40, was driving his SUV east in the westbound lanes, when he struck a van head on. Haynes, of Wichita, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the van, 37-year-old Christopher Asbell, of Park City, was also hurt. Hospital officials tell Eyewitness News both men are listed in fair condition.

Icy roads lead to a deadly crash in north central Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Henry McWilliams was driving on U.S. Highway 81 in Ottawa County around 5:20 this morning. McWilliams was about five miles south of Minneapolis when he lost control on an icy bridge. McWilliams' pick-up went into a ditch and rolled. McWilliams died at the scene. He was from Rockwell, Texas. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt.

A man from Omaha, Nebraska, dies in a crash in Phillips County Thursday. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 36 about two miles west of Prairie View at around 11:45 in the morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 53-year-old Michael Lampe was driving east on the highway, when his van left the road, went into a ditch, then through a fence and hit a tree. Lampe was taken to a Phillips County hospital where he died. The KHP says he was not wearing a seat belt.

An Argonia woman has died after a crash involving a semi in Sumner County. Crews responded to the scene on Highway 160, about a mile east of Argonia, around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Linda Haskin, 57, was driving west, when her vehicle crossed the center line and hit a semi. The vehicle lost control, sliding into the ditch and striking a guard rail. The vehicle came to rest on its top in the bottom of the creek. Haskin died at the scene.

The snowstorm is being blamed for one deadly accident. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Kansas City man died when his SUV hit an icy patch on I-70 Monday morning. The accident happened near Goodland.  The highway patrol says the SUV rolled after hitting the ice.  The driver was not wearing a seat belt.  A passenger who was buckled up survived.
