On Thursday, the Kansas Highway Patrol worked a fatal crash near Pratt. Troopers say 35-year-old Patricia Lynn Vasquez of Haviland was killed. Her vehicle was eastbound on southwest 20th street, southwest of Pratt, when it hit a wesbound vehicle and went into a ditch. Vasquez' vehicle rolled two times, and she was ejected. Troopers say she was not wearing a seat belt. The accident happened about 10:27 Thursday morning.

A man from Omaha, Nebraska, dies in a crash in Phillips County Thursday. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 36 about two miles west of Prairie View at around 11:45 in the morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 53-year-old Michael Lampe was driving east on the highway, when his van left the road, went into a ditch, then through a fence and hit a tree. Lampe was taken to a Phillips County hospital where he died. The KHP says he was not wearing a seat belt.

Is 70 too slow? Some in the Statehouse think so. Friday the House passed a bill that will increase the speed limit from 70 to 75 on divided highways. But some in law enforcement say faster speeds will lead to more dangerous roads. "When there's been an adjustment in speed," says Gary Warner of the Kansas Highway Patrol, "we've seen an increase in the number of crashes. " The law still needs to pass the Senate before the speed limit is increased

A Great Bend man has died after a rollover accident in Kingman County. Emergency crews were called to the scene on K-14, about five miles south of Kingman around 2 p.m. Thursday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Brian Mott, 32, was driving south when his car veered off the west side of the road. He over-corrected, causing the vehicle to rolls several times. Mott was thrown from the car. Investigators said he was not wearing a seat belt.

A driver of a farm machine is unaware of a man working underneath it, and accidentally runs over him. The accident happened Thursday afternoon in a field southeast of Deerfield. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a Pierceville man crawled underneath a forage harvester to work on it when the driver of the harvester started to drive away. Investigators say the driver was unaware of the man working on the vehicle. The victim was taken to a hospital in Kearny County.

A Kansas state trooper goes to the hospital, after he is hurt by a firearm during a training exercise in Salina. The incident happened Tuesday morning at the patrol training range in Salina. An official with the Kansas Highway Patrol tells our news partners at The Salina Journal that the trooper was injured during special response training. He told the Journal that the injuries were not life-threatening. Officials will not say if the trooper shot himself or was hurt by another trooper.

A man dies in Lyon County after a train hits his tractor Tuesday morning. The accident happened around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday on Road 240, west of Road X near the town of Reading. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 72-year-old Floyd Charles Becker was driving west on Road 240 and collided with the train. Becker was taken to a hospital where he died. Becker was from Neosho Rapids. No one on the train was hurt.

A Missouri man dies in a crash Wednesday in Greenwood County. The accident happened on U.S. 400 about 10 miles west of Fredonia just after 2:00. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 43-year-old David Koster was driving east on U.S. 400 when he crossed the center line and struck an on-coming semi. Koster died at the scene. The KHP says he was from Marshfield, Missouri. A passenger in the semi was treated for a possible injury.

A Medicine Lodge woman dies in an early morning crash in Kingman County. The accident happened around 2:50 Friday morning on U.S. 54 at the Cunningham exit. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 35-year-old Jami Danielle Romine was driving west when she left the roadway and lost control of her truck, causing it to roll. Romine was taken to a Kingman hospital where she died. A man riding with her was injured. Investigators say neither were wearing a seat belt.

A Butler County Dispatcher says the driver hurt in a rollover accident has died. The accident happened just after one o'clock Wednesday morning on Highway 54 and River Road.  That's just east of El Dorado. The dispatcher tells Eyewitness News the driver was coming off the highway and somehow rolled the vehicle. The accident is under investigation by the Butler County Sheriff. Kansas Highway Patrol is assisting in the accident.
