A man from Hugoton dies after crashing a Kansas Department of Transportation truck in southwest Kansas. The wreck happened just after nine o'clock on Monday morning on K-25 about 11 miles south of Ulysses in Grant County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 43-year-old Jeffrey D. Harris of Hugoton was driving a KDOT truck pulling a trailer. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Harris' truck went off the side of the road and went into the east ditch. Investigators say he over-corrected, went into the west ditch, which caused the truck to roll.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the names of the woman killed and the man critically hurt in an overnight motorcycle crash. Troopers say 19-year-old Mallory Scofield of Wichita was killed in the crash, 21-year-old Joshua Wynn was driving the motorcycle, he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Neither was wearing a helmet. -------- A police chase overnight leads to a crash that left a woman dead and another person in critical condition. It started near 27th Street South and Meridian.

An Argonia woman has died after a crash involving a semi in Sumner County. Crews responded to the scene on Highway 160, about a mile east of Argonia, around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Linda Haskin, 57, was driving west, when her vehicle crossed the center line and hit a semi. The vehicle lost control, sliding into the ditch and striking a guard rail. The vehicle came to rest on its top in the bottom of the creek. Haskin died at the scene.

A Great Bend man dies after his car collides with a truck Thursday near Larned. The crash happened on K-156 just one mile west of Larned. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a man in a truck was driving west on the highway and slowed down to make a  turn. The driver of an eastbound car hit the truck as it made the turn. The driver of the truck was taken to a Pawnee County hospital with a possible injury. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital where he died. The driver of the car has been identified as 47-year-old Ricky Perez of Great Bend.

A 67-year-old truck driver is killed after a semi crash in Meade County Wednesday afternoon.  It happened around 2:45 Wednesday on US 54 just east of the K-98 junction. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the driver, Herman C. Anderson, Jr. of Tennessee, was headed east on US 54 when he drove left of center and into a ditch.  The truck kept going until it drove off of a 38-foot railroad cut and jackknifed. KHP says the truck came to rest on it's wheels on the railroad tracks. No one else was hurt.  No word on why the driver lost control in the first place.

Rollover accidents have more than doubled in Kansas since 1998. Law enforcement say the increase has happened since people started using cell phones while driving. Take a look at some these numbers.   In 1998 more than 1,800 rollover accidents happened in Kansas. In 2003, when people started using cell phones rollover accidents increased to about 4,300. And the most recent numbers from 2008 show an average of 4,100 rollovers a year. Wichita Police Department Lt. Joe Schroeder will tell you electronic devices are increasingly to blame for car accidents.

Two people were killed in separate crashes in Western Kansas Saturday. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the first crash happened just east of Garden City on K-156. KHP says 73-year-old JD Brewer was riding his motorcycle when he swerved to avoid debris in the roadway. He lost control and left the roadway. Brewer was killed. No other vehicles were involved. Authorities say he was wearing a helmet. The second deadly crash happened Saturday afternoon in Gray County. KHP says 21-year-old Joseph Combs of Garden City was headed west on Highway 50 when his car moved into the oncoming lanes and struck a semi head-on.

Shots were fired in West Wichita this morning just before 1:00 a.m. Police were called out to the 9200 block of east Murdock where people in their late teens to mid-twenties were gathered. Investigators found a man in his early 20's with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police tell us there was some kind of disturbance in front of the house, then a gun came out. There were people inside the house, but they weren't responding so a SCAT team was called in to enter the residence.

An elderly woman was driving at South Dam Road and Tuttle Creek Blvd. when another car slammed into the right side of her mini-van. That's when the second car caught fire. Kansas Highway Patrol says 88-year-old Betty Clark was airlifted to a Topeka hospital here she died. The collision happened just after 8:00 Saturday evening. The driver of the second car is from Colorado. Officers couldn't get his insurance papers because the whole car was destroyed by fire, and they were in the glove box. He was not hurt in the wreck.

Two people are dead and two others injured in a head on car crash in Harvey County. It happened just before 2am on I-135 near Newton. The Harvey County sheriff says a 4-door vehicle heading south on I-135 crossed the center lane and hit a van head on. The driver and passenger in the car were killed on scene. Both are believed to be from Wichita. A passenger in the van was critically injured, and taken to a Wichita hospital. The driver of the van was also injured, but not as severely.
